How will I know that Swarthmore has received my application?

I recently went on the Swarthmore website in an effort to determine how I will know that Swarthmore has received my application, and was not able to find any answers. Does anyone know?

If you submitted your app online, Common App will tell you when they've downloaded your application and supplement: the most important parts.

I applied ED1, and they sent me a username and password a few weeks after I submitted my application to let me know that they got everything. Generally, if they didn't get a piece, they'll let you know.

a few weeks.... how many weeks?

I got mine about two weeks after the ED1 deadline, but it'll probably be different with RD or ED2, since there are more applications/more time to go over apps. :]

Again, if they're missing something, they'll let you know, so I wouldn't worry.

I haven't recieved anything from Swarthmore yet, not even an email indicating they have my app.

They will send them out at the end of the month. I emailed and asked because I was getting a little concerned about it

I applied by mail and haven't heard a thing from Swarthmore. I would really like to know if they have receiced everything. Every other school I applied to has notified me about what they have received!

So has anyone, excluding on-line applicants, been contacted about their application and whether or not it is complete?

I know it can make you nervous, and it would be nice if they did send out confirmation earlier, but try not to worry about it. They definitely let you know if they're missing any part of your application, so if you haven't heard from them it either means they've gotten everything or nothing (which would require packages from at least you, collegeboard, and your school being lost in the mail).

Go ahead and call if it will make you feel better, it won't hurt. But for better or worse, with Swarthmore silence at this point is a good sign.

Yesterday I spoke with my counselor, and he said that Swarthmore had emailed him asking for my mid-year report...so they pretty much have my application...that's the only way I know

JP2249 explained it perfectly. They'll call or e-mail you if they are missing something.

They received 5000 applications. The student interns don't return from winter break until January 23rd. There is a photo of them filing like mad in the Phoenix article. Just click enlarge:

You can see a wall full of folders, all in various colors: manilla, blue, red, pink. All purposefully tagged with tabs in various colors as well - red, blue, yellow, pink, black. All signifying something: URM, soc-ec, international, legacy, recruit, Board member's kid, and so forth.

Looks like the woman in the green top is busy putting a print out of a Common App in a folder. Hey guys, it could be yours! Can we tell if she like it from her expression?

That picture from the Pheonix is very interesting considering my friend and hallmate is in that photo. He started to work for the admissions office this year and is enjoying it so far. He says that it's pretty hectic so far...

I wonder if he knows that there is a photo of him filing... I shall tell him tonight.

Ask him what the color code on the folders is. Also, the color code for the index tabs on the folders.

I'm guessing that folder colors are grouping (minority, international, maybe legacy) and that the colored tabs are for special interest tags (athlete, musician, engineering, community service, yadda yadda).
