I submitted my common app & supplement on 12/16 and have yet to hear back from Swarthmore. does anyone know when i might get an online ID or account so I can check my application status? thanks in advance.

bump…anyone please?

The common app will show when your app and supplement are downloaded. I wouldn’t expect to get anything from Swat admissions until after the new year. But I have no inside knowledge.

Has anyone who submitted in December gotten their online account/confirmation emails yet?

Nope. Guess they’re processing them right now.

I haven’t heard from Swarthmore either… not even a confirmation e-mail

Same here, guess we’ll have to wait

Swat usually sends an email at some point in the application process so that you know what’s been checked in or not - if they haven’t contacted you individually to say they’re missing something, I wouldn’t worry. This is the peak application-sorting time with the least student workers available to actually help them sort, so as long as you know you sent everything in, just sit tight, as hard as that can be. :]

i got an email today saying they wouldn’t be able to report any missing application parts until about jan. 29th, so I wouldn’t worry.

Yeah, I got that email too.

My DS has not yet received any communication from Swarthmore. he has not found any e-mail correspondence in any filter, folder or file. I bother him often to check but nothing yet. I like to check on his app stats and i guess that i need more to do because I’m getting a little concerned. Perhaps I’ll call tomorrow all though I’m loathe to do that. Any suggestions? I’d hate to screw up his #1 — 2.

Would your son be able to make the call? It is usually preferable for the student to do it, if at all possible. I agree that he should have received something from Swarthmore already, because the applicants received emails that they would be able to check their status on January 29th. The office phone number is 610-328-8300.

And the email said that any missing info had to be in a week from receipt of the email, so definitely have him call.

Thanks momof3sons. My son called this afternoon as soon as I suggested it to him when I saw him. The office was closed by then. Perhaps he will e-mail tonight and then follow up tomorrow. just another day in the apps process…

I know that there is a preference for your children to make contact with with the schools themselves. However, if your children logistically cannot make these calls, there is nothing wrong with a parent making the call on behalf of the child. Schools understand.

My D, now a sophomore at Swarthmore, attended an arts magnet school almost an hour away from home. She left home at 7:00 am every day to catch a train to get to school, had an extra period of class and most days had rehearsals or activities during lunch and right after school ended. Since there was no way that she could call during normal business hours, I made many of those calls for her. I always prefaced my inquiry or request with an explanation that my d was at school and unable to call herself and had asked me to do it on her behalf. The reaction was always positive and there were several calls to Swarthmore, because like for the rest of you, her account status was not always up to date. Obviously it did not hurt…

Good luck to everyone. It is a wonderful school and she is very happy there.

Thanks all,
He called yesterday and I think/hope that all is now in order. He was told that they incorrectly copied his e-mail address from his interview form. /shrug. at least they know he applied!

Glad to hear that all is in order for your son, Toolmaker! Good luck to him.
