how will SFS look at low SAT but High ACT? what do you think will they think?

I have 1850 on the SAT but I got 33 on the SAT. I took both of the test only once (act 6 months later) and the difference as you can see is very big. Since both test will be shown on my transcript I do not have an option to "hide" them and I am really nervous about how they will look at it. What do you think?

PS.Does anyone know the SFS act range? I only can find SAT's

33 ACT gets you into absolutely any program, any school you want. I think they look at only your best (ACT).

This exact same thing happened to me, with a 32 on the ACT and 1310 M/R on the SAT, and I was fine. Your high ACT score will outweigh any lower SAT score for sure; Georgetown respects both equally I would say.

This is aside from the issue of Georgetown admission, but there are some issues regarding high schools putting all standardized testing results on transcripts. The College Board has advised schools against doing this. There is now score choice for the SATs, and schools that continue to plaster all standardized test scores on transcripts are effectively negating score choice (same for the ACT).

The way around this is to not put a school code when students take the tests. Then the scores will never show up on transcripts, and score choice will work. Working with the school system administration to effect a change to the policy is another avenue.

BTW, good luck with your Georgetown application. We visited last summer, it became my S’s top choice, he got in, but then the finaid wasn’t enough for him to attend. (That’s okay, though, as he will be attending another great school; it all works out the way it should!)

^ yes I agree, in some cases you do not even need the scores but something like this might ruin the plans.

Did your son apply to college or SFS? Could you please tell me his stats : -)? I am really nervous and want to hear what the situation is like during admissions.

Future Transfer: I know that if you have taken the ACT, you still are required to take 3 Subject tests. Make sure you have done this. I ended up taking 6 of them (4 different ones). I got into the SFS. My ACT was a low-30s. I did come from a rural, public school in WV. Geography, the interview, your EC’s, etc. all play a role in the admissions decisions. Standardized Test Scores are not everything!

^ well, they are required for freshman admission but not for transfer (i’m transfer). For transfer subject test are only recommended.
