How will the new 2017 Supreme Court Affirmative Action case affect Asian admissions?

I read on the Wall Street Journal that the Supreme Court has taken on a new affirmative action case against Harvard:

As a Chinese-American, I know I’m part of an over-represented minority and this adversely affects my college admission chances for nearly every competitive university. Now that conservatives are in control of virtually every branch of government, will they strike down affirmative action as unconstitutional? Can the Supreme Court’s decision affect private universities such as Harvard?

Does that article say that the Supreme Court has “taken on the case”? (I can’t read the article as it’s behind a paywall). I have heard no such thing. The Justice Department and the Supreme Court have nothing to do with one another. And “conservatives being in control” of the two houses in congress and the executive branch does not imply anything about a supreme court ruling in the future, if the current lawsuit ever makes it there (it’s got a long way to go). As for the rest of your contentions, I’ll let them be as I’m not interested in getting into an argument.

Harvard will still be a reach school with opaque admission practices and criteria.

@donnaleighg My mistake. It says the Justice Department has taken on the case though. I’ll admit that I have l don’t have very in-depth knowledge of the federal justice system. It’s just something my US History brought up and I was curious to see how it would affect admissions.

MODERATOR’S NOTE: There is ONE thread on CC for discussing anything related to affirmative action. I am closing this thread.
