In some ways, I think that I would like to promote excellence, not only for the obvious and inherent reasons, but because, in general, GPA and drug usage is inversely proportional. I have friends who would have done well (good SAT scores), but have had their GPAs flushed away.

As for the college application process, I think that I would be as supportive as possible. Although it certainly wouldn't help the situation (my mom keeps insisting that it's OK if I go to a lower UC, but that still doesn't keep me from being anxious about Princeton), I think that I would hate it if my parents wanted me to go to Harvard.

Or maybe a vasectomy will solve all my issues :P

My kids have to go to college, but not to any one in particular (as long as it's not Ohio State--I'm a Michigan fan :)). Pretty much I'm going to let them decided based on what's best for them, not on where I went.

whoamg, get accepted to Princeton and earn a billion dollars...u don't need to do anything about ur kid..he will surely get to princeton afterall he will have 2-3 buildings after his name

I want my kids to be very successful. Im not going to let them just slide by. They will have fun, but also be awesome students at the same time. They will be ivy quality but normal very cool human beings. Dare to dream.

if i have kids, i will do my best to give them everything i have so they can achieve the best they can. i want them to love learning, which contrary to popular belief does NOT entail attending an ivy league school. sure i will want them to go to college, but by the time they are 18 THEY will know where they want to go, and i will let them decide. maybe i'm just a bit angry because my parents are caught up on prestige, and i want to bring my kids up another way...it's a generation gap thing

kids are awsome!! I want to be able to put them all through college...after all, my dad did(is doing) for 7 of us, and he was a farmer boy from Georgia.

don't want kids... just wanna do the process of making kids ;)

Nah.. back to topic:

I will give them what my parents gave me: TRUST.

Of course I won't let them slide into the drugs and so on... but regarding my driving talent they could participate in the 500 miles of indianapolis or something ;)

Bad habit...speeding

I won't push them to anything, they don't have to be Princetonians as long as they feel happy...

i want my kids to be full of good humour. even if theyre a little slow or something, they need to be individuals that are healthy to be around.
of course, im terrified of having kids who aren't whole & normal because i dont trust my parenting skills but thats a different story.
overall, i would just want them to be genuinely happy being productive citizens.

are you kidding me?? our earth is going down the toilet. our environment is sucking majorly, the weather is all out of whack, global warming is going up up up, the ozone hole is ginormous, and our fresh water reserves are being depleted so quickly. maybe those french people are smart... not having kids. unless this world shapes up, i am not bringing people into this world to suffer/overpopulate.

anyways if i were to have kids, i would not pressure them to become star academic nutjobs. as long as they are happy and bring happiness to other people, I will be satisfied :)

Do any of ya'll ever think about how hard it will be for our kids to gain admission to schools like HYP? When our parents applied to college it was kind of laughably easy compared to what it's like today...our kids are going to have to have insane stats as competition gets more fierce. I saw a book in Barnes & Noble yesterday that was something along the lines of GETTING YOUR PRESCHOOLER ON TRACK FOR THE IVY LEAGUE.

omg j07 that is sooo sad. i've heard of super elite preschools too, and parents fighting over them, already thinking about harvard or wherever.

my kids are going to HAVE FUN above all. i don't want them wasting their childhood doing anything they don't like just to get into a good school. I'll try to make them do they best that they can, but if school isn't their thing then that is fine. i also am not spending money on tutors or prep classes for them because i think they should have the satisfaction of doing it by themselves.
