How would admissions view this applicant-American or International?

Said student is an American citizen (all his life) but has been out of the country for two years with parents who are on sabbatical. Will apply to college while out of the country but will come back during the summer before college starts.

If you are an American citizen or permanent resident (green card holder) you are considered a domestic applicant. If you do not have a green card and are not an American citizen, then you are an international applicant.

You’re an American citizen, so you’re not an international applicant.

yup. Agree.
