So i initially thought doing my homework as soon as i got home and studying till 1 would do me good. turns out thats was the wrong choice and i barley got work done. My new schedule is:
5:00-7:00 = Free time
7:00-? = School time
What would you do in my shoes?
if you were anything like me you’d wait till 11 to start doing homework. Then you probably end up finishing work during pass periods.
I think you need to reevaluate how you’re studying. I had a similar schedule junior year (with AP Physics + calculus) and I still found time to do a research project, have hour-long dinners, stay 1-2 hours after school for ECs, practice my instrument, and waste time on the internet. I went to sleep at 12 or 1 AM first semester and 2 AM second semester.
Your productivity declines after you do one thing for too long. There’s nothing worse than a 6 hour gap in your schedule reserved just for “studying”. I’d recommend adding more variety to your schedule. For me, my after-school schedule looked something like this:
2-3: Go home, nap, relax, eat
3-4: Finish mindless homework/assignments that won’t take very long
4-5: Studying for standardized tests
5-6: Procrastinating on internet
7-8: Dinner
8-9: Instrument
9-9:30: Procrastinating
9:30-1/2: Study, with 5 minute breaks dispersed within when I felt myself getting tired/finished a task or subject
You also need to factor in when you’re usually most productive. For me, that’s after 10 PM if I had coffee before dinner; I did all my more intense studying after then. For lots of other people, that’s right after school.
@glasshours but i get home at 4:50 tho.
@BerkleyGG - I got home 5 some days, I have some friends who stay until 7 or 8 PM for sports and debate and stuff. Just adjust your own schedule accordingly. It’s not impossible.
