How's archery for an EC?

For the past couple of days I've been thinking of buying myself a compound bow. Maybe I could join an archery club and jot it down as an EC. How's archer for an EC? Is it a common EC or is it rare and unique?

Tiberius-
My son's only athletic EC was archery (just for fun, nothing competitive). He got into most of his top tier choices and all of his other schools. I think for him it allowed the colleges to see that he wasn't just a "brain" with tons of academic awards and ECs but that there was another side to him. Archery is a more unique sport, so I think it shows some independence and maturity.

sewbusy, did your son join like an archery club or something? How often a week did he practice? I'd just like to practice once in a while but not all the time.

Do you like it? If so, it's a greaat EC. Just doing it as something to put on your college apps? Terrible waste of time.

not a great EC... All you do is take the move, pull back right hand, aim and release...

umm rsabach ill play you in archery if you think its so easy...

sort of a piggyback to this thread, i took archery in junior year for fun (i think its a pretty cool EC myself) and i won the school tournament in the archery class. they never really gave any recognition, but could i put this down as an award? i think its sort of cool...

Oh I've been thinking of buying myself a bow for quite awhile now actually. I think being able to hit targets from a hundred feet away is quite fantastic. I told someone I was buying a bow and he told me that it would make a great EC. So I thought about having fun with a bow and then someone gave me the idea about having it as an EC.

Tiberius: My son did it mostly on his own just for fun. He liked the challenge it presented where he was only competing with himself. It is a sport of patience and persistance. He tried to join a local club, but was never able to make the time. He is going to a HYP school next year which as yet does not have any archery club, so he's hoping to start one. But I agree with Shadow, do it for you, not for your college apps.
