Thanks!
Not quite sure what you’re asking - is it about whether they admit by intended concentration? If so, no. They admit to try to create a diverse and balanced class. Your intended concentration won’t have an effect on your chances of admission.
…neither…?
If it’s by concentration they better have one called ‘undecided’, because that’s what a lot of applicants would put down.
My major is social analysis and research, and last year it’s only 2-3 people in that concentration. Would that very low number help me?
It won’t hurt you
If you have contact with the Department, try to meet them, learn about the program, etc., I think that that might be helpful if they contact Admissions. I don’t think you would ask them to, but I have the impression that if a particular department shows interest in a particular student it can be helpful – someone else should comment, because I don’t follow CC that closely and this is just a vague recollection of maybe having seen this point made on prior threads.
Intending to study a “rarer” concentration can add some interest to your application, especially if you have demonstrated talent/experience in the area of study already.
i think my ECs are pretty solid and related to my major; internships, classes, etc.
i basically talking about my own theory about the way we could measure social movements in my essay. is that helping me?
