How's FU for Computer Science?

I've attended the Open House and asked a few current undergrads at FU, not no one seems to know an answer about the overall strength of the Computer Science Department.

Can anyone tell me something about it? Things you've heard? Any internship opportunities for CS majors at FU? Thanks!

CS at both RH and LC is solid. Don’t expect Carnegie-Mellon, but it’s hardly mediocre. You might have to compete for internships with NYU people who are already downtown. Research opportunities, however, are abundant. I’m a physics major and know only one CS major personally–he’s one of the smartest guys here.

Although our chem/physics/bio/CS/math departments are respected and rigorous, don’t come here for technical stuff because of their strength; come because you want a well-rounded education in New York City to complement your STEM major(s).

Not bad, but do it at RH. From experience, most Math and CS professors down here at LC aren’t very good at teaching.

Fordham has recently started a large push in the area of Computer Science, particularly with ties to the business school. Fordham is recognizing the growing tech entrepreneurship scene in New York (they recently hosted a conference about how to turn the Bronx into a Tech hub), and as such is starting to push Computer Science and Info Systems degrees. The recent introduction of the Association for Information Systems group at Fordham ([Association for Information Systems](http://www.gabelliconnect.com/ais)) to complement the existing Computer Science Society is an example of this push.

There are many aspiring entrepreneurs at Fordham who are taking Computer Science classes and are looking to work with existing coders, so there is plenty of opportunities for CS majors to get involved in some exciting activities!!
