and after how many test?
Ok so lately I have been really stressed out about the ACT. The more I think about it, I just get angry. But any way I have taken the ACT twice and I am am taking it this coming up February test and plan to again in April. I am a current junior.
these were my scores on the first test:
E: 25
M: 21
R: 23
S: 23
composite: 23
the second time I took it I got this:
E: 27
M: 26
R: 21
S:23
composite: 24
I improved a lot in math but reading is where I fell behind because I always run out of time!
Anyway, all I want is a 26 so I can get a good scholarship at the school im looking at. What do you think my chances are?
I want to know how much you improved and after how many times taking it?
Ive heard some people tell me that they have not improved at all, taking it 7 times and this scares me so much!
also lately I have really been lacking motivation of studying and the second time I took it I studied a lot and my score only went up one point. Now I dont think im going to end up studying as much for the coming up one, any chance I could still do better with out studying as much?
So, How much did your score improve? and over what time period?
also, any studYing tips would be much appreciated!
THANKS

I really didn’t study much for any but the first, I just reviewed each section a few days before. The key to the test is to reduce the stress, if you’re worried, you’ll do worse. Simple as that.
I improved from a 31C to a 35C within a couple of months.
While the above poster is correct, do not think that you will get a good score just by reviewing. You need to get your hands dirty and sit for full-length practice tests.
My daughter thought the best thing she did to raise her math score was to just complete her junior year. My daughter and her friends who took it more than once all went up at least 2 points without doing too much to prepare for it. Since my daughter was taking it in September the second time, she did do a book of practice tests because she was concerned she might slip a bit over the summer. You have plenty of opportunities to retest at this point. Do you know if the school you want to attend super scores? That can make it a little less stressful.
@jamesjunkers How did you improve your math and science by so much?
@madmik, I realized that the test was bs, I stopped worrying, and I was able to do the simple math problems that I learned in 9th grade. For science, I realized that you shouldn’t actually spend half the time reading, that you should just skim through the passage, skip the charts and graph, go to the question, and go back for the info. My biggest improvement, however, was English (25–32), that I have no idea how I did lol.
@jamesjunkers wow that’s amazing. Thank you for the advice though! I made a 28 my first time and am trying to make a 32 like you did your second.
@madmik, lol thanks. Really you just gotta relax. I never had a tutor, I never really used a book (I bought one but well…, lol), I just was too anxious the first time
