Calidan,
Bring a copy of your resume and your transcript. My daughter's interviewer asked for hers, and she was glad she had them with her. Also, don't stress about the interview. It is very relaxed. Be yourself, that's what they want to see. Dress professionally, but don't overdo it. Sell yourself. Good luck.

Anyone have anyone comments on the talents and skills section? Still looking for more feedback. Thanks.

Yeah..I never realized I had no talent/and or skills...

except for drawing ligers...and numchuck skills...

but somehow I don't think Georgetown would find that humorous ;)

I'm getting ready to go to Mexico this weekend...it looks like the unfinished essay will be coming along with me, along with that dastardly Calc homework.

Ahhh I have my interview Saturday! I just scheduled it today and he was all for getting it done soon. I'm so nervous even though I enjoy interviews. And my darn application- still have to finish those essays.

Statistically, no, but honestly, yes. SFS is the hardest. College has a lower rate, but that's because of the sheer number of applications they receive (18,000, I believe)

I just scheduled my interview for this Sunday evening. These essays are killing me--I didn't think that it would be this hard. Normally, I enjoy writing essays (as much as one can), but I think that the magnitude of the situation has made it considerably more challenging and stressful.

I think 850 might be a tad long. I'm trying to get all mine down to 550 tops (about 1 page). Hopefully I'll be able to finish all my essays today.

I talked to my interview last night. We're scheduled for sometime between 5:30-7:00 tomorrow evening. He's actually driving through my town (on his way to somewhere else), and thought it would be easiest to "fit me in" along the way (he lives about an hour and a half away from me).

Good luck, tlaktan--be sure to let me know how it goes. :)

Whew, just finished my interview. It was actually really fun! He had told me he likes to interview for about a half hour, but mine lasted almost 2 hours! But anyway he was really nice and we talked about all sorts of different things, from politics to Clinton (he was friendw with him at G-Town!) to football... LOL he even offered me a job for those breaks when I come back from college! So I'd say overall it went really, really well and I'm just feeling so relieved and happy right now. Good luck to everyone else whose interviewing these next few days!

So I went into Borders Cafe.. and well, ordered a cup to drink.. and my interviewer came about 7 minutes late, which was fine.. I was in uniform and all..

Had my briefcase so all the files I needed was there, including resume, the curriculum for the AP courses I helped develop at my school..

Interviewer didn't ask a single question except "Tell me about yourself.." the rest was just free exchange of thoughts..

The awkward part was there some guy (a vagabond, if you will) and stared at me in the face. He asked for change, I told him I didn't have any. Then he started cursing, swearing, and told me he was going to keep an eye on me and kill me.

I just shrugged it off, and he left, staring at me. My interviewer just shrugged and was like oooookay... So we took a ten minute break, got some more coffee, and then resumed the interview.

It all went fine.. (this was for Georgetown by the way).. I wasn't shaken or anything, but ehh..

That sounds like a pretty good interview to me, Tlaktan! I hope mine goes just as well- mine's on Monday at a Starbucks in Berkeley! I'm actually really excited.

Tlaktan- I was just reading the old HH thread and saw that you were going to retake the SAT Is in October- did you? How'd they go?

Update:
Part I- sent in
Part II- "all applicants" essay finished, some information filled in (like SSN, name, etc.). Haven't done the essay specific to the college, and I haven't finished filling in my extra curricular information, or describing an important activity or summer activity.
SSR- given to my counselor, should be sent in soon.
Recs.- given to one teacher, should I get a second one?

Sounds like it went well, tlaktan. I have mine in about 24 hours--I'm doing some prep for it right now.

Update:
Part I- Sent in quite a while ago
Part II- Most of it's finished. Still have to figure out what I'm going to put down for "skills and talents." EC/summer activity essay still needs some editing, as well as essay two. Essay one I haven't even touched. All essays should be done by Monday, and, after I enlist a few people to look over my essays, Part II should be sent in by Wed./Thur.
SSR- Counselor should have it completed by Mon./Tues. and ready to send off
Recs.- Will get teacher rec. back Mon. Can you send more than one?

I think you have longer than November 1 to do your interview. When I had mine last year, it was in the middle of November sometime.

babybird - Did they give you contact information at all for your inteviewer. Of they haven't yet confirmed the receipt of your Part I form? I think it took a while for me to get my interviewer information. Maybe 2-3 weeks after I sent in the Part I...

Here's my situation: I took the SAT during the spring of my junior year. I'm not sure if I sent the scores to G-town or not (I've contacted the SAT people to find out). If I did, fine, I don't have to worry with it anymore. I just took the SAT again Oct. 9 (for the final time) and designated G-town as one of my recepients. According to the Collegeboard, those scores won't be sent until Oct. 30 (too late for the Nov. 1 deadline). If, in fact, I did not send the scores from the junior-spring test, can I rush those scores (from junior-spring) to G-town now and it still get there on time? I was looking at the G-town website for more info on this, and it said not to rush scores because they won't arrive any faster than normal (which I find very interesting).

Does G-town get the scores electronically? If so, my most recent test goes online Oct. 22; does that give G-town enough time to get my scores electronically? Or are they waiting for the paper copy? And if they do wait for the paper copy, then why won't rushing the scores get the test results there faster? Do they even need confirmation of my scores from the Collegeboard by Nov. 1?
