No, I don't have any contact info or a receipt...it makes me feel better that you said it took yours 2-3 weeks...

my friend who is also applying got his info the other day, he lives right by me so I'm assuming it's the same...still, though, I'd rather the info just come. hmm.

My confirmation took about 25 days to arrive. After day 20, I started to get really worried that it got lost in the mail. However, it does say on the checklist sheet to call after 30 days of not receiving it, so don't worry- there's still time for it to come.

Babybird- I didn't get my interview contact name for over a month! I turned in Part I in late August, got a confirmation email about 2 weeks later, and then got my interview contact last week. So I wouldn't worry too much about it. Give it another few days and maybe then try calling if you still haven't heard.

Lauren

Hey, I'm from MA, and applying to Georgetown EA. I finally finished my application and everything last Tuesday! Now we just have to wait till Dec. 15 (59 days, not that I'm counting or anything).

Don't worry about the interviews, they are really informal. The girl who interviewed me had just graduated in May, and we just had a conversation like we were friends talking.

Where is everyone else applying here?

urgent question:

under the Part II app, under "special skills and talents"...what do they want put there? Awards? Hobbies? I can't figure it out.

I haven't filled that section out yet but from what I've heard, it's usually more along the lines of hobbies and unusual characteristics (not so much awards). I know last year some people made their responses humorous instead of another serious response. I'll probably write about my personality as opposed to specific things I can do, but many talk about instruments they can play, things they can build, etc. Does this help at all? I feel like I'm just sorta rambling.

Well, Babybird, if it makes you feel any better, I got mine in three months (sent in May, arrived in August)..

I'm so scared, because I requested my scores to be sent to Georgetown October 8th, but I'm afraid they might not get there on time. Will they still check my application or am I already doomed?

I took October SAT II's, and I'm sure that my scores will get to them on time.

Did you rush?? Because I sent them the day before the SATs and also put Georgetown as one of the colleges that will get the scores form the SAT I took on October 9th, so I guess if your scores get in, mine should get in too.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it. Those are the last chance SATs for EA people, so I'm sure they make an effort to get them there. I didn't rush my scores, no.

This is my special talents section:

In my spare time, I read voraciously and write poetry-- typical angsty teen, I know, but it really provides me with an outlet for expression. I love singing and music and have been in some form of choir since I was 7. I am an avid movie goer and go at least once a week; Oscar day is my favorite day of the year. I always alphabetize my books, DVDs, CDs and am confident this will help me one day soon. I feel that my talents of sleeping and watching TV would be assets to any university. I've never been able to whistle, however, and hope this will not be held against me.

What do you think?

Babybird- I like it. It's a good mix of dry humor and serious information. Mine will end up being sorta similar.

Can someone tell me if my crazy plan is okay (for SAT II's)

I've already taken 2 SAT II's (Writing and US History) and they (along with my SAT I's from May) were sent to G-Town in August. I just took the Math 1C SAT II last weekend, but I have a gut feeling I may not have done so well. Sooooo, my plan is to wait to get my score (this Thursday) and if it is good, to rush it to G-Town. If, however, it is bad, I will take it again in December and then send that score right away. (Will it get there on time?) G-Town said they don't need all the SAT II's to consider you for EA, so is this okay? (I'm also going to take the French SAT II in Dec. because I'm applying to the SFS).

Thanks!

Just had my interview. It went...alright. Wasn't the best I had hoped for. My interviewer (in his words) said that he hated SFS (the school I'm applying to and the school he went to) and he didn't have many positive things to say about it. He seemed very cynical about everything...from politics and government (my main interests) to the college admissions process. Lasted about an hour and a half--most of the time it was me asking him questions (which isn't bad--it just seemed like he didn't have very much to ask me). At some points it was more like receiving a lecture than an actual conversation. I showed up wearing a tie--bad move. I wished I had been a little less formal--I think I may have come off a little too "fake" (for lack of a better word).

Maybe he had a completely different take on how it went (I hope). Anyway, I'm not exactly too thrilled right now. Ugh.

Interview horror stories-- I'm scared!

Just put the finishing touches on my essays and am all set to hand them in with the rest of my app tomorrow, to my counselor.

Had a fight with my mom, too, about what word I was going to use to describe my feelings when I visited Georgetown. (I wanted "floored", she wanted "amazed") She actually started saying I wouldn't get in if I used the word I wanted. Jesus!

Eek! I have my interview today!

Good luck, Dan! (Although by the time you read this it will have been over)

Use your own word. The adcoms use the essays to hear your voice, not your mom's. If you think the essay sounds more like you with "floored", don't even think twice.

definitely. but she's an author, so she thinks she knows best.

turned in my app today!! so scary!!!

I just got back from my interview! It lasted for a little less than an hour. It went really well, I think! Nothing extremely good or bad happened, so it was pretty nondescript and generic. At the start, however, I just sat there for about ten minutes wondering when she was coming, and then she came up to me. It turned out we had both been waiting there for the other to come! She was really nice, and had a lot of good stuff to say about Georgetown. I'm so excited to go visit it now!

Sounds like it went well. :)

I should have my app sent off by Wednesday--Thursday at the latest. I'm going to send it overnight, so it will be in D.C. by weeks end. I've been obsessing over this thing for a few weeks now--it's going to feel good to get it off my back. Then I just have to wait until December...
