HPME Accepted Students Declining Offer?

My D was in the process of making a decision. She is about to give up her HPME offer and was interested to know how many other accepted students are giving up their offer of admission for alternatives. I think she just wants to feel good about her decisions (teenagers :D). Also, what alternatives are you picking?

Son is declining RPI/AMC to go to UM UG. He was rejected from UM HPM.

@doctorm - what is your D picking over HPME? Is this NU?

A friend of mine is doing UChicago instead of NU HPME. Hope that helps.

^really? Did your friend happen to mention why he/she is deciding to go to UChicago over Northwestern HPME?

@tesxaspg She is choosing Brown PLME over NU HPME.

@doctorm - forgoing NU HPME is not uncommon since people who do get in usually have many choices. PLME choice is not one I have heard before since HPME is usually rated ahead of PLME. However, the two undergrad experiences will be markedly different and if there are no financial considerations involved for the parent, the student has earned the right to CHOOSE. Congratulations to your daughter.

PLME is a great experience and I think she’ll love it.

Looks like a few folks going for PLME over NWU/HPME…I’m NOT the ONLY ONE !!

dumich, did you get into NU HPME? It seemed like you really didn’t like the feel of the program and college

HPME has about 80% yield. So few did choose elsewhere, just not that many.
