Ok, -deep breath-

In my little fantasy mind, here's the colleges I'd die of happiness to go to.

NYU
Vassar
Columbia

My parents want me to go somewhere in Michigan, like U of M or Grand Valley due to the cheaper cost.

However, my dream colleges, these are INSANE reaches, academically and financially. I really, really want to go to somewhere in a major city. I know location isn't the be all end all, but I'm sick of living in these suburbs, sorry. It's like Groundhog Day movie, same thing over. And over. And OVER. I've been to Chicago several times before, and am planning on visiting NYC soon. I honestly can't describe the feelings I get in a city. I feel so much more in my element if you want to call it that, and I feel like well, where I belong.

Obviously, there are other colleges out there. And scholarships. And EC activities.

I honestly have no idea at this point what to do. -drowns in stress- Where are some good colleges in urban areas that are somewhat cheaper? And what are good scholarships for a middle-upper class kid who needs a good amount of money? And I seriously need to find EC activities. And there's no film club.

Also is it possible to go a smaller college in the area, like Oakland University or Macomb Community and then transfer?

Thank you so so so much. :)
