Hey everyone,
I'm looking for anyone who's an HSAA student who was initially rejected as a freshman but was accepted as a transfer during the admission process . Any input on the experience in college is appreciated. I am more specifically concerned with the ability to change majors as well as how strict UF is on graduation times. Can I take more than 4 semesters or will I by confined strictly to transfer graduation requirements? Stuck between UCF and UF because of these two reasons but personally prefer UF(Go Gators!). Thanks in advance for any input anyone can provide!

If you are not sure about your major, you really need to be careful. Once you attend UF as a transfer, you cannot change your major (as you stated). If you decide you have an interest some place else, you would be restricted from exploring those interests. I changed my majors a couple times because I wanted to pursue what I found to interest me most. But my interests came after a couple semesters and its completely different from my initial major declaration as freshman.

My point: Do what you love to do, but it may be that you haven’t found it yet. You have to either find it quickly (may be hard without the experience imo) or consider a place where you can adjust your major should your interests change.

UF is better than UCF in many things, but you do have a pretty big restriction to be wary about. Any idea what your major might be now?

Well I know what I want to change it to but was just wondering if they allow this to occur at preview or something. I would still attend UF even if they didn’t because it’s the only college I can see myself fitting in. I think I take back about being between UCF and UF. Just want more information on the amount of flexibility I would get.

UFBoy123, When did you receive your notice? I am in the same situation, but have not been given notice yet. What college is your major within? I want to go to UF so badly, and this waiting is very hard. I would appreciate any info on graduation times too. Congratulations on your Acceptance.

UF allows more flexibility for the HS/AA students than regular transfer students. You would sit down with an advisor and talk about your plan (what you want to major it - extra activities you may want to participate in like Study Abroad) - if what you want to do is reasonable then your graduation deadline is generally extended.

@ZooLoose, I haven’t gotten accepted yet but this is a board assumption because I have all of my prerequisites completed and a perfect CC GPA. You just need to meet the minimum requirements and that’ll be good from what I’ve read. Also thank you @Melissa96, that sounds so relieving that they let us have more flexibility.

Anybody else have any experiences?

Bump Bump anyone else go some info?
