I forgot to do my academic update and I'm doing it now but I realized the course I planned to take in the summer (just some rubbish arts course for finishing GE) might not happen because of the budget cuts and my school is seriously considering cutting the summer session as a whole, and even if they keep it the essential classes will likely be the only ones that remain.

So on the update should I still report that I plan to take it?

My suggestion is to always never report the “planned” courses for the SUMMER. This is because for virtually all UCs the summer courses are not taken into account for any admissions decisions. Later on if you do end up taking the course, you can simply ask to be given credit for it (IGETC requirement etc.)

The reason I always suggest this is because it saves you from having to then “officially” contact them and let them know if you end up not taking the course (you have to do this even if it would have no bearing whatsoever on your admissions, simply because the rule says anytime ANYTHING that you’ve told them changes you have to let them know)
