Hi,

I'm an international student from France studying my last semester at a city college in California. I've been accepted in to a lot of schools as a transfer but I can't decide between UC Santa Barbara (global studies major) or Binghamton (prelaw). My goal is to go to the best law school possible as soon as I'm done with my B.A.
Finance are not an issue, I just want to know if graduating from a good ranked university will increase my chances to get into the top 20 law schools.

Thank you in advance for your help !

SUNY Binghamton was unknown to me before mentioned by you; I did some brief research on both of the universities you mentioned, and if tuition cost isn’t an issue for you whatsoever, UC Santa Barbara all the way due to more evident prestige.

Even so, what you get on the LSAT also strongly affects an admissions officer’s decision in whether or not you get into a prestigious institution. In my opinion, I feel like that should be worried about a bit more.

As a New York Parent I will only give my opinion that Binghampton NY is a really dreary- boring town. Academically it is a solid school but the surrounding area is just not the greatest place to be.
I am not at all familiar with the academics of UC Santa Barbara-, I am sure both schools are viewed academically in a similar manner by law school admission staff. So go to the environment that works better for you.

– my gut tells me that you should go to UC Santa Barbara- cause Binghampton, NY may not be the place you want to spend the next 2 years of your life.

UC santa barbara has a reputation of being a party school in California, although I’ve never went their personally.

It honestly matters very little where you get your undergrad. What matters is your GPA and your LSAT scores. There are people that might argue with this, but they are absolutely wrong.
