1) My high school counselor forgot to write my recommendation, and will be sending it ASAP.

2) Our High School transcript is messed up and does not show updated grades and rank because of an error in our grading system, but the right grades show up correctly, will the colleges recalculate? (School will supposedly send out a notice to the colleges with the transcript)

Maybe you can ask your guidance counselor or principal to personally telephone the admission's offices of the top three colleges on your "wish list" and have them explain the situation. They should be willing to help you with this.

I'm sorry to hear that. Do you know anyone else in the school that might help you? -- perhaps a teacher, coach, principal, etc. If not, then try to get up the nerve and call them yourself. Fill them in on what happened. The admission's might even be impressed by you showing the maturity and responsibility in resolving the problem on your own. It can't hurt. Good luck.

Also, if you do make the calls yourself, try to remain calm and confident. Don't use the word blame--try saying that there was a "mix-up" in the guidance department. In other words, try to be diplomatic without casting blame.

I would suggest making the calls yourself even if you get others to do so. You can ask the schools what steps you should take to make sure they have corrected information.
