So, I got an 1850 and I definitely would have expected better from my math section.

CR - 660
M - 480 (!!)
W - 710

What's the best route to take to improve this? I was aiming for a 550. A 480 is a wee bit pathetic. I hate math so much, but I thought it would be less of a weakness.

As much as people complain about Math being the hardest when it comes to improvement,I disagree.

I think it is the easiest because the SAT ask the same type of questions every year.If you practice a lot(using books, online questions and etc) by the time you are ready to take the test, you will see how easy it is to solve problems.

i completely agree with mercenary.
Math and Writing are about memorizing concepts.
CR on the other hand requires comprehension and vocabulary, which is very difficult to improve a short amount of time.

I have the same problem (600 M, 730 CR, 750 W). I've been doing a section a day from Barron's SAT Math book. Do you think it'll help? I'm hoping for a 650+, ideally a 700 but I'm really not picky.

I just used the regular Barron's math section. Remember that SAT tests you mostly on basics disguised so that you have to use critical "reasoning." Remember that there are always faster and more efficient ways to do a problem. You just have to figure it out. Also, don't speed through the Math sections like I did and make stupid mistakes which resulted in 3 wrong and a 710 in Math.

Books that are good for Math:

Barrons
Grubers
RocketReview Revolution (shows you how to use your reasoning skills).
