Okay, so I transferred to univerrsity of maryland from a suny school thinking the admissions process to the smith school of business (MD, ranked pretty well, especailly in the area) was straightforward. However, it is pretty tough to get in if your not admitted as a freshmen. My cumulative is around a 3.3.

If I don't get into Smith, I'll have to major in econ and possibly minor in math in the school of behavioral and social sciences.

Current econ majors can't really get interviews with consulting/investment firms because all the employers flock to smith recruiting fairs. This is exaclty what I want to do, consulting, corporate finance, or investments. Also, with current loans to my parents, I would need to make atleast 50 k upon graduation.

I did apply to Syracuse (parents would cover difference in tuition), where I would be able to major in Finance+Accounting and get interviews with companies I want to work for. considering I hate maryland, what are YOUR opinions of my situation?

Economics at Behavioral and Social Sciences at UMD
Finance+Accounting at Whitman School of business
