Human Rights Movement??

hi im an asian sophomore
i dont know if this is the right place to post this but since im new here~

im really interested in human rights :D
and i've been coordinating a campaign to protect human rights of the foreign workers in my country (which are minorities)
and also i've been nominated as a junior participant in an Asian human rights forum ... am doing volunteering work in a hospital for foreign workers... and also im a founder/president of the in school human rights club (similar with amnesty international, but not quite)

well im pretty much enjoying all these cuz i've been interested in human rights since i was young but my mom worries about this - that the universities will NOT LIKE an ASIAN female caring so much for HUMAN RIGHTS OF MINORITIES...

is it so? omg, i thought all i have to do with EC is following my passion,, doing what i really wanna do.. ;-(

FYI i'm shooting for Columbia univ,, i know its super demanding but am going to try real hard for 2 years :D

please answer me CC!

Dude they will LOVE it!

^ agreed. it also sounds like you actually love what you do and aren't doing it for colleges. keep it up, and you'll have a great shot at columbia

the human rights thing is better than doing math/science competitions and playing the violin/piano. BUT i'm sort of wondering why you started your own club? how is a human rights club any different than amnesty international? also, what exactly does your club do?

well my club -- we have a monthly topic about one specific sector of human rights, and we research for it, discuss about it and does interview with experts in that area for a month... Amnesty International is not exactly doing these things, right? at first i thought of joining in Amnesty International but i realized the activities we can do there are very limited.. so i created a new club on my own. Thanks so much for all your replies!! it's a great help for me~
