Humanities at Stanford

I hear a lot about Stanford's stellar reputation in the sciences, but I happen to be much more of a humanities person... is it as strong in the humanities? Thanks for any opinions!

Someone a while back posted rankings of universities in various departments, and Stanford is definitely strong in all areas; they were at the top across the board. I was so impressed with their summer creative writing program that I decided to apply as an undergrad (I'm a prospective English major). Plus, the literary community in San Francisco is just booming, and there are a lot of well-known writers (well, depending on which 'literary circle' you run in--are you a Dan Brown fan or a Dave Eggers fan?) who teach part-time or lecture at Stanford, so there are some amazing resources and an incredible environment for those looking to pursue writing.

Stanford economics and political science are excellent. So is history.
