Hundreds of views - no answer to THIS Simple Question?!

To Freshman or any other current Princeton Students:

Can you please share: Where did you buy your clothes for Princeton?

??? who cares???

sorry to be so blunt, but really?

WOW – I HOPE IF YOU ARE A “PRINCETON MOM”, THAT YOUR KID ISN’T NEARLY AS JUDGEMENTAL AS YOU! (Though if you are representative of the “helpfulness” of others at Princeton, maybe that 1) explains why no one else replied and 2) suggests why some students opt to go elsewhere.

But I will be more respectful of you than you were of me, and will copy/paste the longer “reason” why I asked – but REALLY? Is it THAT far-fetched a question?

If I had asked for recommendations of where to buy XL sheets for the bed or furniture or lamps for the dorm room, would that have been better received? What the heck is wrong with a mom asking for suggestions of places where her upcoming college student might best purchase the type of clothes that it appears that most of the students at Princeton own? (Not every student has worn such clothes throughout high school, and thus, may NOT know where the best places to shop for such clothes are). Geesh… :-(((

And the fact that my question has OVER 200 views in a short period but no replies tells me that over 200 others were reading it (beyond the subject line) in order to see any potential answers.

Below was my lengthier post:
“Hey all. I just viewed an album (I guess from Frosh week, but it had students from varying years in the album) and I can’t recall ever seeing more plaid shorts/shirts, oxford type shirts of all different colors/patterns, etc. in one place! Everyone looked great (and very “preppy”) but I really want to know: Just where do people shop for these type of clothes?

Particular stores?
On-line?
In person?”

P.S. Is there really not a SINGLE Princeton student or parent on CC willing to anonymously offer a sincere answer of places they shop? Are you embarrassed where you shopped? I honestly don’t get it…

Dude calm down. Like all the way down. I dont get why your asking this question as well. Like you cab buy your clothes anywhere. There isn’t a uniform or anything.

For your question on the Harvard forum, one poster suggested J Crew- but the reality is, plenty probably get their jeans at WalMart, khakis at Target, sweats at the school bookstore, their polos at Macy’s. Maybe they head to an outlet mall. Sometimes, there is no one answer. And, guys aren’t always as into “where” to shop. And, the Ivies aren’t all about how guys dress. If you did visit, surely you saw this. If it’s a planned visit, you can check out the kids’ clothing and ask the tour guide. Sorry, but the lack of answers is someting of an answer.

Students at HYP are no different than students at UMich, UColorado or UCLA. Most buy their clothes from a retail store that can be found in any mall – stores such as: Aeropostale, American Apparel, American Eagle, Banana Republic, Gap, Macy’s, Old Navy, Abercrombie and Fitch, Hollister, J.Crew, Urban Outfitters, Century 21, Target, Walmart etc. Kids wear what they want – not because they attend a certain school. You need to visit more than Ivy League colleges to see that all students dress pretty much the same, no matter what school they attend.

ZombieDante, lookingforward, and gibby: Thank you very much for genuine and helpful responses. :-)

I really don’t know but I keep seeing Vineyard Vines for the preppier kids. So I just looked at their website, quite entertaining with a whole story on it. I think you would enjoy it and get some ideas, hsmom2013.

Thanks Moreover!

My pleasure-happy looking/shopping! Oh yeah, I learned of another fashion site because of CC, google tom and lorenzo. You will be amazed! My college daughter uses it as a study break reward. She sent them a thank you email one late night. They responded with a wonderful email to her.
