Hey! Does anyone know exactly what sort of the things Huntsman wants? I mean apart from good maths, foreign language stuff, and an interest in international affairs? What sort of ECs do they like and within the good maths etc, what qualifies as being reaaly good? I really really want to know - I’m DYING to get into Huntsman (as is pretty much everyone else who applies! lol! :P)

I haven’t written SATs yet, but these are my stats. I know everyone HATES these chances things, but I want some feedback on where and how I can improve my stats! So thanks if you are willing to have a look! (I’m in junior year by the way, but our calendar is different, so i finish school at the end of next year, and will go to varsity (hopefully penn! haha) in sept of 2008).

MATHS
- I got into the top 100 in my province (like a state) in South Africa for the National Mathematics Olympiad this year
- We don’t have GPAs, but my Maths average is usually around the low to mid 90% area
- I take additional mathematics, which has calculus, advanced algebra and finance (we don’t do stats, but I’m teaching myself for the SATs). My add maths average is usually a low 90-something percent.

LANGUAGE
- I’m South African but lived in Mauritius since '98 ( i think this will help with the diversity aspect of admissions). I now go to boarding school in SA.
- I’ve done French since '98 and am pretty fluent. My average is usually around the mid 90%s. I’m going to go on French Tour next year and attend a language school, so that’ll help too.
- English is my mother tongue, and although my exams aren’t great (I have time-management problems whenever I have to write an essay - I think about them too much! lol), I was runner-up in an English competition for a poem I wrote. I’ve also been a runner-up in a national essay competition on possible partnerships between SA and Japan, as well as coming 3rd place in a national essay competition (I wrote about the possibility of extra terrestrial life - the competition was run the Royal Society of Science in South Africa)
- I did two years of Spanish and a year of German, but they weren’t very intense.

INTERNATIONAL
- I’ve lived in 2 different countries and have studied four languages (2 properly - see above)
- I am part of the debating society
- I have taken part in Model UN
- I have been on my school’s SACEE (the most intense debating league in SA) debating team (we obviously debate local as well as international issues)

OTHER
- Last year I came second in the national physical science (chemistry and physics) olympiad
- I also achieved over 80% for the national bio one. (None of this year’s results are back yet)
- My average for the year is usually around 94%, and I’m probably first or second in my grade of 85 girls at a top private school
- I’m the vice president of the SRC
- I’m a prefect (counts as a leadership role)
- I’ve been awarded academic colours by my school. Honours and debating colours are possible, but they haven’t been announced yet.
- I take the hardest workload offered by my school, but one girl insisted that they make provision for her, so she does a few more subjects than me. I do english, french, maths, additional maths, science (physics and chemistry), bio, and geography. (We take the same subjects for 3 years until graduation. 7 subjects are traditionally the maximum allowed at my school, and all of mine are on higher grade.)

Thanks soooooooo much to anyone who has a look at this, and pls pls pls if you have a more specific idea about what huntsman wants, let me know!

Enjoy your day everyone! :)
