Does anyone know when students will be notified whether or not they are able to be part of the Husky Promise? My sister got it when she attended UW for all 4 years. I'm hoping that I will be able to get it as well.

Do you have to apply for husky promise? Or… Do you get qualified based on financial need or merit -based?

I’m pretty sure you have to be qualified for it. They base it off your financial needs from FAFSA or something.

It should come with your financial aid package.

@hunbunsgirl02, no. If you are in-state and you received grants (Pell or State Need Grant), but they aren’t enough, then you will get the rest from the university. Since you have to be qualified for Pell and/or Need, it’s need based. However, the Need grant is available to people with higher incomes (not like Pell, where the cutoff is pretty low).

Do you know when the financial package comes?

Financial Aid packages have started to mail out. I haven’t gotten mine yet but you can also check your myUW account and it should be there.

I got the Husky Promise. If you check your financial aid status and you receive a grant/award called State Needs Grant/Leap then that is the Husky Promise.

@swishbig what’s your income bracket? Do you know the cut off for the Husky Promise?

I don’t think it’s State Need. State need is the one the state gives. Husky promise most likely goes under “University Grant”.

huskyhopeful, no particular cutoff. If you are eligible for Pell or State Need, then you are eligible for the promise.

Hi, I am eligible for about half of the Pell Grant. Does anyone know if this also makes me eligible for the Husky Promise program?

Laura Palmer: Most likely not. It’s for those truly needy. If you are only eligible for 1/2 the Pell Grant, then most likely your(or your families) income isn’t low enough.
