HYP -> Stanford

I'm a sophomore at HYP looking at transferring to Stanford because now that I'm two years wiser, I realize that it's a better choice for me academically. They offer much better departments in both of my majors, and has the entrepreneurial spirit that just isn't present at my school. It has gotten to the point that I've essentially exhausted all of the courses in my areas of interest (very small departments) at my current school.

That being said, I don't have the best college record. I guess this is almost a chance me thread.

College:
GPA: 3.5 (rising trend? 3.8 sophomore gpa)
Declared double major, heavy support from advisers both for major and for transfer
Varsity athlete (walked-on, but on a top team)
Decent extracurriculars otherwise, but nothing spectacular or innovative
Will submit arts supplement (music; of top-conservatory quality)

High School:
GPA: 4.0
SAT: 2360 (760 on writing)
Very strong extracurriculars
I was accepted to every school I applied to except for Stanford...

I'm also technically a legacy because my father was a grad student at Stanford.

What I'm worried about is that Stanford is known to accept more "interesting" candidates and I'm not "interesting". I have a very standard upper-middle class suburban background. I love my current school. It just doesn't have the academic opportunities in specific fields that Stanford does. My GPA doesn't help either.

Your record is excellent. Just make sure to take the application seriously and write a strong essay. There are a lot of helpful resources for transferring on CC that you can take a look at. You say that your current school doesn’t have the specific opportunities that you are looking for. Make sure to describe these in your essay.

You should apply if you are seriously interested in going to Stanford for undergrad. But even if you don’t end up transferring, you can still go to Stanford for grad school in a couple years.

You’re the type of transfer applicant they take. Don’t worry about your GPA (especially if you go to Princeton or, to a lesser extent, Yale).

Not necessarily. S is known to take a fair number of transfers from CCs or non-traditionals. This is not to say they don’t take students from HYP (I know one personally), but they do take a much wider range of applicants. I also know an applicant (personally) who was accepted to HYP, etc. as a fr, got into Y, Dartmouth, Brown & Amherst as a soph transfer, but was denied to S as a transfer.

Your gpa still definitely counts wherever you attend college, they want to see that you’re academically strong at a peer school. They’re taking 20 or so transfers, everything counts.

You’re obviously a competitive candidate, you just need to apply and see what happens. There is no way anyone here can predict the decision with any accuracy.

Given the acceptance rate, it would be foolish to give a definitive reply to the OP. However, he/she is definitely competitive.
