For these schools you have a VERY average profile in every way posible. I dont say this to disappoint you, I’m just trying to get you to realize reality. After reading your whole post, I cant tell at all what you are passionate in or what you will promise to bring to whatever school you are applying to. I would add more schools on your list that arent all elite schools, becuase you can get some really good merit at other schools. If your heart is set on these schools, I say try to focus your ECs on one topic and then write about one of them more in depth in your essay to help increase the passion in your application.

My Passion is helping others around me. I try to be part of everything just to see what I like or not. As far as academics, they are really good considering threads made by others. Even though my family income is low, I try to do everything I can to help the less fortunate out (holding clothes drives, food drives, etc…)

Yeah I was going to say your grades were good, but what would that help…your ego? lol. But yeah, you have lots of hours of community service. I suggest writing your essays about perhaps helping others and how that made you feel. But I still say you have average chance because community service is not unique; anyone can do it.

There’s this great NPR segment where a reporter sat in on an Amherst College admissions meeting and recorded the adcom reading and discussing actual applications. When they landed on an application with super varied involvement–even with depth and leadership as well as breadth–that didn’t sit too well with them; it seems too random, like the applicants were trying to please colleges, or didn’t have any true passions. (I know you’re not considering LACs, but as Amherst is still one of the country’s top schools, this opinion most likely corresponds with those of Ivy adcoms.)

That’s how your profile reads to me, personally. By the numbers, you have an excellent chance at all those schools, so hopefully your essay(s) will reveal your unique personality and passions.

Good luck!

Thanks Thebeatlestoday! I will narrow it down once I start working on my application. I’ll try to fit the EC’s into one particular group in which all of them have in common.

Honestly, I think you have chances at all of these places, but your ECs are not all that impressive. You’re definitely going to want to make it clear what your interests are in your essays, or come across as a varied person/ interesting etc. You have all the grades / stats, so really you just need to try and stand out at this point.

Chance Back?

bumpppppppp

I think you’re a high reach for HYP and a reach to low reach for the others. I mean your scores are sort of middle of the pack for the top schools and your EC’s don’t really pop. Also, I am in kind of a similar situation as you with a lot of hours – but mine are pretty much all focused on what I want to do, which should help. I think you have a shot overall, but I’d add more safeties.
