Hypothetical question: Will the Academy over look a few C's (like two) or even perhaps a D your final semester of highschool?

Also, what's the cheapest way to get to USNA from BWI?

My blue and gold told me they don't even want a final transcript, so I wouldn't worry about it.

My daughter's high school routinely sent 8th semester transcripts to colleges where seniors had been accepted. I would check with your high school counselor to see if they send your final transcript. I think a D would be unacceptable to USNA.

Cheapest transportation from BWI to Annapolis is the bus from the airport to Spa Road, but the last bus leaves BWI at 5:00 P.M. The fare is $3.00. Otherwise, Super Shuttle from BWI to USNA is $29, plus tip.

Uh......

Your BGO is wrong. Just ask those who have had appointments pulled back after blowing their last HS semester.

Depending on whether it is a 'D' and in what course, probably a year at the local state university.

The academy does require final high school transcripts. If it appears to the academy that you skated your last semester, there is a high probability that your appointment will be rescinded.

I would have to second GA-

Unless things have changed, you are required to send in a final transcript to USNA and most definately to the NCAA if you are playing a D-1 sport.

While they may overlook an isolated "C", I believe a delta, or multiple charlies, will send up a red flag, something that is not good.

So for those of you even considering skating through your final semester of HS, re-evaluate what you are doing- you have worked hard to this point to gain an appointment, don't let it slip from your fingers now, with I-Day right around the corner!!! So work hard, and move those "charlies" to "bravos", and get whatever ei (extra instruction) you need to eliminate any "deltas" or "foxtrots" off your final transcript!!!

And if that is not motivation enough, just remember there is a wait list all waiting!!!!

If you were even remotely as interested in attending USNA as you have led us to believe, you wouldn't be blowing off your last semester. I know, I know.....you want some time off before you start in June. That's crazy! If you had the grades to get in, you should've been able to keep them up unless there were some serious illness or family issues.

continued from previous post......
I viewed your history of posts, and it appears that if you spent as much time doing your homework as you've spent posting on this website your grades might not have fallen.

Hypothetical Answer: Is a C or D your best work/effort? If not, why would you want to offer up anything other than your best? Honor, Courage, Commitment... All lead up to integrity. So, be a person of integrity, and give your utmost all the way through. Now is NOT the time to give up the ship!!

What will USNA think? My guess...not highly of it. Is it an indicator that once you've achieved something you'll slack? Not a desireable trait in an officer/leader. So, work through, and make the grade.

Man, I wonder where my BGO is getting his info, because he told myself and another accepted friend that we don't need to send in 8th semester transcripts. I don't know how to tell him he is wrong, any advice?

Not yours to tell him or her anything re: this process. Just do what you're told to do by USNA administrators.

My son just received his I day packet and it doesn't have anything in it about sending last semester transcripts, but there is the ncaa clearinghaouse form for sports and they will require your last semester transcripts. I have went through this packet and all the papers unless naval academy requests them from your school

Alright, so just don't send in a transcript...

^^^^^
Most Guidance Departments automatically send final transcripts to the schools where the students have accepted offers of admission.

Civilian college acceptances are contingent on the admitted candidate's continuing success on the same level as demonstrated on the transcript submitted with the application.

There are horror stories of acceptances being rescinded due to the 8th semester transcript evidence demonstrating lack of student performance.

Your final transcript will automatically be sent by your guidance office. If it is not, it will be requested.

You most likely will be in the throes of plebe summer when the transcript arrives (for sure if you reside in NY State where the last state examinations are given only 6 days prior to the report date!) Nonethless, you don't want to be pulled from the ranks (sent home?), or start plebe academic year UNSAT. I imagine that if you failed a required senior course, an emergency phone call would be made to USNA prior to the official transcript.

Don't "boot fate in the fanny". If you can be an academic exemplar for 7 semesters, finish strong showing your best effort. If you get used to slacking, first semester plebe year will be a rude awakening!!

I have a feeling PenQuinz will not be posting again. Most likely doing his/her homework and studying about now.

For better or otherwise, his answer appears clear. Maybe not what was hypothetically hoped for ...:p It would seem now's not the time for cruise-control. ;) Keep pluggin PQ and in the words of that famous salty dog and former Monkee, Davy Jones, spoken from his watery lockeroom ... *"Don't give up on calculus!" * ???

Just bought the AP Calc. study book (8th edition) from B&N last night. Thank God his Calc. teacher called to remind him, thus he remembered to remind me. Although I didn't know from before.

I told him about the "charlies and deltas" being possibly earned and he said he'd bring his B in Calc. up to an A by the end of the year. His younger brother replied, "Slacker!" Thank God, once more, for front and rear seating. :D
