hypothetical situation

the first 2 years of highschool for this indian boy was not so great. he ended with a 90 average and a low 3.5 gpa having taken only ap world history and ap biology. his rank was no. 103/390

the last 2 years of highschool for him were outstanding. he had a 100(weighted) average for both of the years having taken apush, apes, aplang, art, apcalc, apphysics, aplit, appysch, and apchem. he received a 5 in all of these classes.

he also took the sat and got a 2310 on it and took the act and scored a 35 on it.

he was a 4 year varsity track and cross country athlete.

he participated in his highschool science olympiad, science bowl, nhs, spanish honor society, and mu alpha theta(math honor society).

what are his chances of ivy league/ honors uga?

o yea and his world exam was a 3 and his bio exam was a 4.

and his psat score was a 225

His chances are excellent, provided he is able to showcase strong extracurricular.

An upward trend is good, and a 90 average really isn’t that low. What’s the overall GPA/

Chances at ivies are slim. An upward trend is great, but ivies reject most with near perfect grades throughout high school. The typical unhooked student at most ivies is number one or two in his class. It’s very unlikely for anyone not having something a school really wants who is not at the very least top 5% in their class to get in.

Best shot would be to do well for 2 years somewhere and transfer.

well not only was it a chance for ivies but it was also a chance for other schools of near caliber as well. honors uga, unc, possibly duke…

What is your current rank?

no. 18/300

wow that rank is fine. you’re still on track for the ivys

Maybe Cornell as far as ivies go but very good schools will accept you with a strong application.

hey thanks…i think i got my answer

looking in the cornell, unc-chapel, duke, uga-honors, northwestern direction.

your chances at those you mentioned aren’t bad. nothing too special, since your ECs are pretty standard, but the SAT/ACT score is nice, and your grades are fine.

write one heck of an admissions essay  that might help a lot
