Hypothetically...

if I'm an American student who has gotten into a British uni, can I flunk out of high school and not get my diploma?
I've worked pretty hard for the last few years, so I won't do that, at the very least to go to graduation :D but if British unis don't care about my transcript, couldn't you technically take your exams and be done?

No. Your offer has been given to you on the basis that you will complete any education that you have said that you will complete, and even if you have an unconditional offer that can be rescinded if you drop out of high school.

It would be a lot of hassle later on when you return to the USA and find that done employers will want a HS Diploma

Congrats on your offer though. Where are you going for uni?

Actually, I like your thinking. I don’t know what school you have been admitted to, but there are at least a couple of UK BA programs where you wouldn’t need a high school diploma.

Contact the school where you got your offer, and ask them specifically what would lead to it being rescinded. Ask them specifically if the offer would still stand if you didn’t get your high school diploma.

If you earn a college degree, nobody will ask you if you have a high school diploma in the United States. I know this from personal experience, because I have a BA and a JD, but no high school diploma.

KEVP

I know someone at my college at Oxford who flunked out of high school to take up his Oxford offer (He applied age 16 and was accepted).

well, that’s certainly interesting, haha

thanks. I’m going to King’s. as long as I follow up on my exams :)
