I accepted Brown over

List the colleges you will reject to attend Brown

White .

haha stole the idea from the dartmouth forum? Well If I decide to go to brown over my other options, I’ll let you know. :)

Harvaletonford. Yeah. I know, I know, Harvaletonford is over 9000 times more prestigious, but I accidentally my desire for prestige in favor of fit. lol ;)

Northwestern, Cornell, UCs

Brown State.

Vassar, Wesleyan, Trinity, Wellesley, Mount Holyoke, Bryn Mawr

Friend: Brown over Harvard, Dartmouth, Northwestern, U of C, Duke, Hopkins

Well, first of all, let me say that I applied to 16 places.

Of those, I had a legitimate, passionate interest in attending 6 of them.

And Brown was the only one of which I got into.

However, here’s the list:

Would have been ok with going to: University of Chicago, Notre Dame Glynn Family Honors Program

Otherwise Accepted to: Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Washington University in St. Louis, Colby College, University of Michigan Ann-Arbor

Waitlisted at: Duke, Cornell, Williams (won’t attend any over Brown if accepted)

Rejected: HYPS, Penn

well many others but the ones I was passionate for:

Northwestern
UofC
WashU

Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, Wellesley, RPI, Case Western Reserve, full tuition at UDelaware.

& Princeton waitlist hahaha. ><

Is it just me or are there a lot of Northwestern-Brown cross-admits here?

moi: NU, Gtown SFS

Thanks, Harvard or Yale. Pretentious much? Yeah. That’s what I thought.

This should not come as a surprise. In the New Revealed Preferences Rankings Study, which was revised a couple of years ago, Brown trumps Northwestern in cross admits. Here are the top 25 in terms of “preference”

1 Harvard
2 Yale
3 Stanford
4 Cal Tech
5 MIT
6 Princeton
7 Brown
8 Columbia
9 Amherst
10 Dartmouth
11 Wellesley
12 U Penn
13 U Notre Dame
14 Swarthmore
15 Cornell
16 Georgetown
17 Rice
18 Williams
19 Duke
20 U Virginia
21 Northwestern
22 Pomona
23 Berkeley
24 Georgia Tech
25 Middlebury

haven’t made up the mind, yet. So far Brown has trumped: Cornell, Dartmouth, Amherst, Wes, Vandy w/full ride, U of R w/full ride, UMass w/full ride. Still trying to figure, should it be Brown Stanford, or Penn. Thoughts? I know, thread segue…

i have picked brown over tufts and uvm so far. have to figure out wash u, unc honors, and northwestern. still, im leaning toward brown.looking forward to ADOCH!

to all of you that picked brown over northwestern, can you help me out? share some opinions/logic? pm me or reply

I picked brown over… NOBODY! Cuz I applied ED.

But had I applied RD, it would have been a death match (with Lucho masks!) between UChicago, Brown, and Yale. (…and even then I’m not sure. I might have gotten over Yale by March. Who knows?)

Beignet: To be honest, I just got the impression that Northwestern was kind of an anti-Brown.

With no fun.

As soon as I walked onto the campus, I knew I could never go there. I like the t-shirt I got in their bookstore, though.

I think Amaduic is kinda right.

I never thought of applying for Northwestern when I was applying for Brown (but I got into UChicago). My friend who applied for Brown and got rejected, but he still managed to get into Northwestern.

Assuming I don’t have a last minute change of heart (or financial aid situation-I’m waiting to be 100% sure it is what it is before I commit)
I am picking Brown over:
Wash U St. Louis (my 1st choice for a long time)
Tufts
Oberlin
U Maryland College Park Honors/Gemstone/Honors Humanities
Pitt Honors
