I am an Econ major! CAL and UCLA, TAP Certified baby! Chances?

Congrats smith

smith- im definity ganna get TAP certified for next yr!

this has prolly been asked a million times, does tap certification just mean meeting the major requirements?

TAP certification means you meet the standards for the TAP program at your community college.

TAP stands for Transfer Alliance Program, and it is a program that gives "Priority consideration for admission to UCLA" to students who are TAP certified. It does not gaurantee admission, but it roughly doubles your chances. Last year at City College of San francisco over 20 students were TAP certified, and only one was rejected from UCLA.

The TAP program is closely linked with the Honors program at the community college. Different schools have different requirements, but the minimum requirement for TAP certification is 15 semester units of honors courses completed prior to admission to UCLA. For example, I am currently finishing up some of my honors courses.

TAP certification forms are signed by the honors coordinator at your community college, by a transfer counselor, and by you, the student. The TAP form is sent to UCLA in February (if applying for Fall)

smith- thx for da info.! I am already in the honors program ^^
