3.8 ............

hmmm

3.67?

^Is 3.8 a safe Cumulative or Major GPA?

safe cumulative

do you mind if i ask a few questions?

why would you write a "weak" essay?

i not trying to be condesending in any way but if you really want to go to one of these schools wouldnt you make sure the essay is strong?

i just dont understand...im sure you have peers or professors who would be willing to strengthen your essay

some of us...
1. suck at writing
2. don't want other people to write for us

sucking at writing- you get better by writing more and getting help from others

other people writing for you- i hope you didnt think i meant having someone else write you essay

these seem like weak justifications IMO

In response to asking me why I would write a weak essay...

I have always gotten As in english class and I have always felt that I am really good at writing "essays," so I underestimated the ammount of work that goes into college essays. The due date kind of snuck up on me, so I wrote the essay in about two weeks and didn't have anyone proof read it, and I haven't read it since I submitted my application.

Looking back, I should have gone to my english teachers and to tutors several months before Nov. 30th and worked on polishing my essays... but that didn't happen.

At least I got out the information that I wanted to get out. I explained why my grades were bad when I started school and I explained why I took a year off after high school before starting college.

ok cool that makes sense.

I will update this thread when I find out!

UCLA- You have a great shot, my money would be on you getting in.
CAL- slight reach

Good luck (but you don't need it)

Thanks you for the wishes of good luck.

hey smith, sounds like i'll be in the same boat -- current gpa: 3.76, 35ish units at a CC. Im a senior in hs right now but im prolly gonna continue at my CC and i'll finish up the igetc by spring of 08, applying to ucla as an econ/intl studies major. I'm excited to c if u get in, sounds like u will.

cool. are you doing tap? doesnt look like you need it if you have a 3.76, but it will make it a sure thing.

You're premajor grades are exceptional! Thumbs up on the hard work. However, what happened with your overall GPA =(. I don't want to sound like a downer, but the 50 percentile are right about a 3.77(last time i checked)

ya, my school is tap. W00t for ratemyproffessor -- i live by it.

I became a serious student in Spring 2005. Before that I had some Cs and Ws. Since then I have been on a strong upward trend, and I took most of my major prep more recently, thats why my major GPA is higher. I hope the upward trend helps my chances. I shouldn't have been in college back when I wasn't dedicated!

Congratulations! We are pleased to offer you admission to the University of California, Davis for Fall Quarter 2007 in the Pre-Managerial Economics major.

Doryx, Cal is a toss up? I thought I had no chance. My gpa is just under 3.5 and my friend mike told me that the cut off is 3.5

I don't know if that is true, but either way I thought I had almost no chance.

Accepted to UCLA - 4/24/07
