I am Black and I Want Ivies

I take some serious offense to that. Any more insults will have to be reported probably bc this is getting out of hand

hahahahaha, you probably shouldnt be saying people are jealous though, this is getting out of hand partially because you dont seem to understand what exactly it is you are doing

report it to who *****
die now

Seem jealous? You're taking advantage of a system not intended for you! That's like when ODP went and got footstamps with an MTV camera crew.

It would be one thing if sure, you're fairly well off with some involvement in your heritage and not bragging it.

But your attitude is such a turn off!

yes....a BIG turnoff

whoa...don't bring asians into this!

^ LOL "whoa...don't bring asians into this!"

I don't want blackness to be my reason for acceptance to a good school, even if it's made me suffer.

i completely agree Muraski. i'm black and a lot of people always tell me that i'll get into any school b/c i'm black. but it's so annoying b/c i am as qualified as any other applicant, but ti will always be about my race.

iamblack, you are missing the point. I am black with two black parents. I don't have anything to be a jealous about...you are the one going through the identity crisis, not me. Still, it really seems strange that you would post about how you never considered yourself black until you realized the boost you would get in college. You are milking the system and you see nothing wrong with it. You may have edited your earlier statement, but the attitude from your OP is still very obvious...

never considered yourself black until you realized the boost you would get in college

you have no idea how mad that makes me

To iamblack:

Nobody gives a fruck if you're black. Being a URM tells the university that you will bring diversity to the campus. I know plenty of URMs with better stats than you get rejected from top universities.

...if my e-mail inbox was a telephone, it'd be ringing off the hook right now!

It's ridiculous that this thread has gotten this long, though.

The OP is either an angry white person or a black person who definitely doesn't deserve any top schools and is an insult to all the other hardworking URMs on this site.

^^as long as he's not asian, I will just sit here and spectate!

hahahahahahahaha wow...ok im officially boycotting this thread so other more important posts can get bumped

Little tough to use URM status if you aren't quite. However, kids who are legacies (uh, both the current president and his last opponent for example), kids who have famous parents, kids whose parents endowed a chair all use their "hook" when the opportunity presents itself. That, unfortunately, is the way the system works, and I don't think any one should hold it against Iamblack to try the game the system a bit.

Turning to your chances, your SATs and, even though you haven't completely stated it, your GPA are below the median for all the Ivies except Cornell. Cornell is at best a match. The rest are a reach or a big reach. The URM thing might play, it might not. If it works, you might get into one of the more selective Ivies. If not, maybe you'll get into Cornell, though my guess is you only have at best a 40% chance there. Bottom line, look to your matches and safeties, 'cause you're probably going to one of them.

I am black and this thread really irritated me. Now, if you are for real, you shouldn't just go and identify yourself as black and then switch back to whatever race you consider yourself. I don't think that it is fair that for all of your life you identified yourself as white, but now all of a sudden you feel the need to be black just to help yourself into college. You are also planning on writing an essay about discrimination when you claim that you haven't really been discriminated against!!! That is just so wrong on so many levels, because I have been discriminated against so many times, but would you see me writing some sob story on my college applications about it? No, because it's way too personal and hurtful. The least you could do is sincerely try to explore both your cultures (Black and Jewish).

Now if you are a white person posing as a black person to try to make your point about how unfair AA is (and I have a whole lot of curse words just ready to come out of my mouth if this is the case) then you are in the wrong.

you seem to only speak of your one club...you do say you have some other ECs, but just having this as one would not look very good at all.

you deserve a little something i call COMMUNITY COLLEGE muahhahahahah

any predictions on how long until a moderator shuts this thread down? I give it a week max
