I am hoping someone can help...

I have decided to go to a state school for two years to save some money because after I was accepted to a few UCs like UCSB, i realized how expensive it really was. So i thought it would be best to go to a state for two years and save then transfer to a UC, and from there I would go on to graduate school. Now my problem is I am really stuck between San Diego State University and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. So i was wondering if you guys could tell me more about San Diego State University (social life, dorms, entertainment, academics, etc). Thanks so much :-)

if you want to go to an uc i recommend either starting off at an uc or going to a community college.

transferring after entering a 4 year school is very hard as their are limited space. you will get last priority so i recommend either taking out extra loans to cover the fees or going to a community college your first two years.

plus, it's hard to transfer ge courses from csu to uc as their requirements and such might be different.

The percentage of people who actually transfer from a community college is very low. The community college near me is one of the higher ranking ones and their transfer percentage is four percent. As long as you make your intentions clear that you want to transfer and work with your academic advisor, it isnt too bad.

what community college are you referring to? de anza?

if you search on this board, and i am sure others will back me up. but it's very hard to transfer as you get last priority. it doesn't mean that you won't transfer, their is a possibility but your chances are not as great compared to community college students.

look up the stats at uc's and check out their acceptances of transfers from university versus cc. the reason is that after 2 years, cc students need somewhere to go where as univ. students can stay there and earn a ba.

CaliGuy couldn't be more right. It is very hard to transfer to a UC from a 4 year school then a CC.

cal poly is a very nice, not inferior to UCs in some way

In terms of social life- SDSU is very similiar to UCSB. The Job oppertunites out of college will also be very similiar.

well what is your major SoCaliGirl24? i am in the same boat as you. But i have decided that i will lean towards SDSU. I love both schools, however, I will be a business major and I think i like SDSU's business program over Cal Poly SLO's.

good luck
