I am in need of ECs.. My school does not offer much.. Please help

Hello,
I am planning to sign up for competitive schools and one of my major weaknesses is the lack of ECs. I am going to be a senior next year and i need some ECs. I am currently in the top 10% of my school, and in the honors soceity as well as the history club. These clubs are easy to get into and our school only offers there and some others such as key club, and SO. Is there any other ECs that you can put down without being a school club? I have done about 150 hours of Comunity Service. DOes this do any justice/ what would you reccommend?

Thanks

Do you have any web design skills? Or did you take any APs? If so, i can help you out. Just PM or AIM me :)

make your own club

<make your="" own="" club=""></make>

there are bums in my school and it would be quite hard to make one.

Play a sport. That helps. Or if your school has a band, then find out which instruments are low on players, and you might be able to join after a couple months of lessons.

Just a couple of suggestions. Take 'em or leave 'em

Others offered good choices, but colleges look for long term committments to certain passions

Starting in 12th grade certainly won't provide a hook

Is there any ECs that you can do outside of school or at home? :D

Yes grade 12 is too late anyways

But I am in the same boat as you. I made my own clubs (pretty popular because my school lacks everything), and participated in my community.

There are sooo many things you can do outside of school- what are your interests- volunteer in a library, tutor (you can actually get paid for that one), get a job, find a passion, paint, enter contests, learn an instrument

Go to a website for your city- they usually have lots of volunteer oportunties and maybe you can intern somewhere. My D is internning at City Hall all summer. Its fun, she likes it, it give her work experience, and is her passion.

while i agree that 12th grade is a little late to join an ec, starting one is still a viable option

I do have job experience, actually 2 years. I have done about 100 hours in the library, and i do tutoring in the national honors society. But is this all really good or do i still lack ECs?
