I just logged into my common app today and by a single glance found out that there are two stupid spelling mistakes : " a form art" instead of "a form of art"...spelled interpret as intepret without r

will that leave a very very very bad impression???? =.=

spell check is so unreliable. Hey.....don't worry. These apps are for a general information not for publication.......you aren't alone you just caught yours and admitted to them in public.

I made a mistake on my activity "essay" (wasn't really an essay, but I wrote it in essay format). No worries... I think they realize that you are human. ;) I know quite a few people who found mistakes after submission-- it isn't uncommon.

I think the best thing to do is to NOT REVIEW your already submitted apps. Of Course, since its the common app, and u may be applying to other common app requiring universities, words of consolation: if your essay's great, they may just 'overlook' the spelling mistakes.

Unfortunately, they may consider it as a lack of proofreading.

I know what you mean! I mispelled an extracurricular position held on my U of M application and that was very bothersome. Just try not to think about it.

At least the admissions people will know the essay wasn't written by some essay service! :) - Don't worry. They know you're human. I think that more mistakes are made with online submissions, as sometimes applicants don't even print it out, which makes it harder to proofread.
Next time, print out your application and have one outside person - sister, dad, mom, look it over for spelling and grammar. Even expert proofreaders have trouble proofing their own work, as your eyes often don't catch your own mistakes the first time around.

yeah but when you're applying to an ivy league school its never good to have a spelling error, it's pretty careless...

...but when theyre reading the essay, they might read straight through the errors and subconsciously correct them without recognizing them. intepret looks like interpret when you're reading 300 essays.

...I have the same problem...my common app (which I've already submitted to 6 schools including yale EA) has 2 spelling errors in my awards sections. I wrote chours instead of chorus and activties instead of activities. I'm so scared!
