Ohhh you’re the C guy :P

^ have some respect for the seniors.

hahaha I am not! It doesnt matter what forums I post in and what info I give you where i am :p

OKay undisclosed! I guess its a LAC. Anyhow, Congo.
If you could just explain ‘focused’ term.

And what’s this about the C guy? Why is he popular here at CC.

If anyone can provide me the background of this topic …

“Oh and if you apply ed and get accepted, you HAVE TO GO THERE, and accept ANY fin aid package they throw at you!”

To repeat, this is not true, at least not at Common Application schools:

https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/docs/downloadforms/ED_Agreement.pdf

Though their is a financial aid clause, people SHOULD NOT misuse it. The colleges frown upon it if you knew you’d be needing-aid and yet applied ED!

Most ED schools specify that internationals needing aid need not apply ED!!(eg Brown, Ivys mostly, NU, NYU,etc)

Financial Aid students should apply RD and then weigh the pros and cons of all the financial packages they receive from different colleges and THEN make a decision!

Some schools make it obvious that they welcome ED applications from students who need financial aid, but only when it’s the one dream school above all others, where the only question is “Can I afford it?” and you’ll attend if there is any way at all to make the financing work. :)

Major is correct: if you want to compare FA packages, don’t apply ED.

Okay, i get that well! Thanks Major .

@vossron:" where the only question is “Can I afford it?” and you’ll attend if there is any way at all to make the financing work. "

This is exactly what i am talking about. In search of such a place…

Many schools provide a FA calculator on their site that can give a good estimate of what you can expect. Sometimes you can ask the school’s FA office for an early read.

But you shouldn’t be searching for a school where you can apply ED. ED applicants should already HAVE that dream school in mind.

vossron: The EFA calculator is not exact or apposite for international students as they hardly get what the calculator say!

You are an American citizen, right? Because it is a whole different ball-game for you all!

Vossron has been around for a very long time to understand that the ball-game is completely different for his kids and us internationals ;)

And yes don’t bother with the EFA calculator. The only thing to keep in mind is they will meet your need well if they accept you. Otherwise you can break away from the contract.

@AviatorPenguin: Okay, that entered my mind pretty well! :)

Guys, suggest me, what should i do right now! As in work on which aspect. I want to strengthen my profile on whole (obviously) to increase my chances of getting accepted. Or just tell me areas which does not sound good or is absent in my profile. Open to just any kind of suggestion!

Thanks is advance.

nama, NOBODY here will tell you what to do except help you PRESENT your achievements and work in a good manner. As the golden cliche says, just do what you love.
Also, you can always apply EA to schools like Yale, instead of a random ED. NEVER.EVER.DO.THAT.

i really appreciate members of last year’s (2014) batch coming back and offering good advice.
