Anyone taking the SAT on the 6th of October? By the way, this is my first post!

^I am! Although I don’t totally need it, but it’s kind of a personal goal to do well on all three sections in ONE sitting.

Good luck Haphazard! I’ll take it CR is your bane at the moment. Looking forward to hearing how you do. (Btw, will a school like Emory let a student graduate with $120k in debt? I don’t think so. Try a net-price calculator or something).

I begged my APUSH teacher to let me take his FRQ on Monday (it was scheduled for this Friday). I am currently studying for his MC test for tomorrow. Then I have to finish an AP English Paper, and then I’ll review some more SAT stuff.

I am so nervous. I’ve literally put my life into this test. I need a 2100+ and would love it if I can do it on the first try.

How do you guys recommend calming the nerves?

^ Try drinking herbal tea.

I just got home. I’ve had and will continue to have exams all week. I wish teachers would at least have a little sympathy before major exams such as the SAT, but I understand that teachers have to follow their respective schedules. I’m going to sleep for like 8 hours and stay up the rest of the morning. I’m messing up my circadian rhythm, but I have no choice. I’m too exhausted to do any work. I’ll update later on after I do some work.

In the same boat as you guys, I am just within reach of 2100, my goal is 2200 but at least 2100 would be good. Didn’t get any SAT studying today, only 3 days left…
AP Bio test tomorrow which will require like 4 hours of studying at least so i can ace it because i struggle in that class. It will be midnight by then and i ahve to go to school early at 6am tomorrow so i think no SAT studying for today.

Yeah, Haphazard i totally agree with you, teachers should give like a week or even a day or two to let students study for SAT, i think ideally they should just not have school the friday before SAT, that would really help

Haha, I’m within reach of 2100 too and my goal also is 2200.
I really think luck is involved with this test for a the difference between a 2050 and 2100 may just be a math question…

Hey guys,

I wasn’t really productive today. I slept for half of the afternoon because I’ve been getting like 5 hours of sleep recently due to stress. I just spent majority of my evening working on a questionnaire I have to fill out in order to get a letter of rec from my teacher. Now, I’m going to do 3 more sections from my practice SAT and I will review my old math mistakes. The day is getting closer and I just hate how I’m not even improving, but oh well.

Plan on working on my Counselor Letter of Rec tomorrow afternoon. Since I also have a free period tomorrow, I’m just going to head to the library to work on SAT prep for a bit then talk to my teacher about my letter of rec after school is over. This stress is just killing me!

I didnt get anything done today either pertaining to SAT, i just studied for AP Bio all day, now im going to sleep because i have to wake up at 5, i get to have 4 hours of sleep tonight…

Only 50 pages of PWN the SAT left and the diagnostics in the back of the books. I’m nearly finished with the SAT Critical Reading bible as well. I’m going to finish the last three or so sections of test test and start on test 1.

I’m feeling even more extremely discouraged now. I just did two math sections and I literally skipped so many in each section. This is make me very worried for Saturday. I guess I can be positive and be glad that it’s better to make mistakes on practice tests then on your real SAT. The 08-09 SAT seems much more difficult then the past tests I’ve taken.

What are your tips for getting at least a 600+ in math? =/ I usually get like 580 or a really low 600. It’s driving me crazy.

And now it’s 11:43 PM and I’m craving a bagel.

Paris, review your mistakes and learn from them. It will be a big help, I promise.

Well, my Writing score has dropped. I made a 680 on test 10 assuming I got a 10 on the essay. I’m going to review direct hits for 30 minutes and read over sparknotes 7 deadly errors again. I have to get around a 780-800 on Writing. Afterwards, I’m going to call it a night. I’ll have time to do some SAT stuff after I finish a physics projects after school tomorrow.

just took practice test #8 on the BB

CR 670 - 770 averaged 720
Math 720 - 800 averaged 760 (math clicked for me on this test…donno why, lol)
Writing 660-790 (4 essay to be harsh on myself) averaged 720. I know this can def be improved

Total: 2200, hopefully will score around 2100+ for the real test…2100 for sure!
Now to go back reviewing and do one more test (9) during study hall tomorrow before test day final overview of math concepts, etc.

glhf everyone

Penguin, that’s a great score! Good luck on the real thing guys!

I have a very bad feeling about this. I haven’t tried writing the essays yet. I should get used to the format. ASAP. :S

Been working on math these past few days. Did the first two of the free diagnostic dills on PWNtheSAT and then worked through each of my mistakes and learned the concepts properly. Still gotta work on “counting” and “patterns”.

Finally had time to take another practice SAT test, number 2 in the blue book:
M - 760
R- 710
W- 660
I am happy i finally broke 2100 for first time, still disappointed in writing score, want to get it up to 700 at least. Anyone have any tips on essay, i have never gotten over 8 out of 12 on the essay, can anyone tell me what they did if they got higher?

I’m still working through PWN the SAT and the SAT Reading Bible. Expect another test breakdown today, and I’m going to post a few of my essays. Maybe some of you guys can critique and give me constructive criticism. I’m not sure how much prep I’ll be able to do tonight because I have two physics projects, but I’ll try to get as much in as possible.

I hate geometry and everything affiliated with it. PWN the SAT is not my friend right now. The entire geometry chapter is like an uphill battle.

UGH, geometry = death. I absolutely loath circles.

I have to finish my Econ homework, AP English homework + then I’m going to work on studying my math mistakes from past SAT tests. I also am going to try and squeeze in a CR section since I didn’t get to finish in time at the library today.

I also need to finish constructing my premade essay template. So far, I only have part of the intro paragraph done.

Today’s SAT Words: Perspicacious (insight, wise) + Parsimonious (frugal)

I ran out of time tonight. I shouldn’t have wasted 1.5 hours watching the presidential debate I’m gonna hit the sack earlier tonight. Hopefully I can come home and start working diligently tomorrow. I’m nearly finished with PWN the SAT. If all goes well, then I’ll be finished with it tomorrow, and I’ll try to finish the SAT Critical Reading Bible by Friday. I really need to write mach essays and do practice questions for the writing section.
