I am not a statistic: Pursuit to break 2100.

I meant SAT habit, don’t know why that’s censured

I, personally, don’t like SAT habit.

I did no SAT prep today. I was very occupied with Calc, bio, and physics. Tomorrow, I plan to fit in some SAT after school. I think I should do SAT prep right when I get home, as I’ve tended to push SAT prep after finishing homework, which has led to no SAT prep.

@Haphazard

First of all, I love this thread. I am a rising senior, but last year I used to notice that pushing SAT Prep till after homework used to result in no SAT Prep. Sound familiar? LOL.

Good Luck! :)

im just focusing on math right now…doing lots of kaplan (side note: is that effective) while also doing BB tests and some dr. chung’s.

i have the same problem as you. once im done with hw im so tired i skip sat. bad habit.

School starts soon for me, but I hope I will still be able to have enough energy to study SAT after hw. I plan on doing a full practice test today to see how my improvement is going.

@chilly I do not know about kaplan and math or other sections. If your resources are teaching you the concepts of math that you dont understand for the SAT, then I am sure they will help. After you learn the concepts, doing well on the math is just a matter of not making stupid mistakes.

I finished my practice test and am happy that I got the highest score I have ever received on a practice test. Although my CR was a bit lower than I wanted, my writing score was higher than expected:

Math: 790
CR: 730
Writing: 800 (assuming i got 10 on essay which is what i got on the real SAT)

Bllb6, congrats! That’s really impressive. How did you raise your Math and CR score? I’m still scoring a 630ish for CR and a 600 for math.

Hey guys, sorry I haven’t been around lately. A lot of stuff for other classes came up all at once last weekend.

I haven’t been making much progress- I tried some math the other day and gave up. I started working on CR yesterday but had to leave. I’ll try and do it today so I can write that guide thing I mentioned (assuming I do well haha).

Be back in a few hours!

For math, I had learned the concepts that gave me trouble (permutations, venn diagrams, etc.) and had a pretty good foundation in geometry/algebra. After practicing a bunch, i was able to bring my 65 math PSAT score up to where it is.

CR has been a long and slightly slow improvement. I have gone from 56 to 64 to 720 to where I am now by focusing on the questions I get wrong. In addition, ive studied a bit of vocab to try to minimize the chance of getting a sentence completion wrong (i still got one wrong this time though). Although I do think reading more in general helps, i think practicing the passages is just as, if not more, important. CR at times can flucutate a lot so you have to be ready for all types of passages.

Do you think a significant CR boost is possible within a month? same with Math. If I were to increase both to 680+, then I’d think I’d be able to break 2100 easily. Writing is usually always 750-800 for me.

Love this thread!!!
I guess we are all in the same boat! i got an 1820 my firs shot do you i can bring up my score in a month to atleat a 2100?
Also do you guys think it is silly if i take my Sats again in December considering i am taking sat ii’s in November?

Anything is possible. Albeit I cannot prove if one can improve so much in such little time, I must say that we are human. We are not statistics; so one’s hard could, indeed, break a statistical threshold.

Also, I want to go over my last practice test errors and read direct hits and more of the geometry primer, but I have to finish this work. I’m nearly finished with calculus, but I have a lot to do for virtual class. A majority of the work is long and tedious, but I mustn’t risk a B in a class. I wish that there was more time in the day!

i highly suggest waking up at 5 and doing your sat work it has been provent o work for a few of my friends who have done well on their sats! and is it wierd that i am taking my sats in december or can i take both sat ii and sat on teh same day?

You can’t take both SAT II (subject tests) and SAT I in the same day. You can only take up to three subject tests in a day. Or, take only the SAT I on a test date.

Ok, just did all the CR in one of my practice tests so I could get a current projected score. I got a 700. Not bad, but I’m really aiming for a 750+. I’m kicking myself because I skipped a question where my guess would have been right… Then again, one of the ones I guessed on I got completely wrong.

Considering I got 650 a few months ago it’s still an improvement!

I’ll definitely keep working and maybe try to reason through my guesses a little more (one of the sections I had 7 minutes left over but I just restarted the clock for the next section because I wanted to make sure I got to all of them. Definitely going to see if in the future spending a lot of time rechecking them improves my score.)

Everyone seems to be improving, which is great. I, on the other hand, seem to be going no where. I’ll post again today if I get to SAT prep. If I’m stumped with homework, then I guess it’s another day wasted.

Hey goodluck to you Portalicious and Haphazard! I’ve been in the same situation as you two. My score was 1700’s , but after hard work during the summer I’ve been able to hit 700+ in each section and past my goal of 2100. I am also aiming for 2300+ as well! Don’t give up you two

@jaefosho, over the 2-3 months of summer you improved your score from 1700 to +2100? Would love some advice from you! I’m going into my junior year so I’d really appreciate any advice you could give
