I am an international student, junior, living in Hawaii.
I am studying SAT... and I am not sure if studying SAT
section by section is a good way to practice...
for instance, I would study writing sections only! (sec 6 and 10) for few days...
and probably next week, I would study math sections only...

is this way of studying satisfactory? ...
I am not sure if this way really works...
I did not take a real examination yet, but so far I am getting

MATH 800
WR 650-750
CR 500

do you think studying CR in my method will improve my CR score??...
and do you think that my study method of SAT is correct?

yes this is a good method, although the practice scores are always a bit higher than real scores. Make sure to do a full practice test about a week before, and on the morning of, look at a problem of each to get warmed up

Thank you very much for reply!
I guess I will continue my work in a same way.
I was confused because some people on the internet always recommended
to study SAT as if I am taking a real examinations… but
I don’t have 3 hours and 45minutes (or perhaps more because of resting time…)
all day…so
anyway! appreciated so much! thanks!

im the same way, always busy. but i do work fast, i know that about myself, so maybe you should time yourself for the individual secctions, i didnt have a problem, but i dont know about you. good luck

Get barrons 2400. it will help you get into that 2150~2200 range and start reading A LOT. I suggest Time magazine or some really literate magazine because they are around SAT size and help with comprehension. Also study around 5 sat vocab words a day. I would think that 1 hours of reading and 10-15 minutes of vocab a day will boost your score in CR to around 670-730 in a month or two easily. Barrons 2400 in a matter of a couple weeks can get your Writing up to 800, also the barrons subject writing book will really help, but 2400 is fine. Honestly I think you can get up to the 2200-2300 range with some work, thats what I want :D.

Really the thing that works with SAT is not cramming if you do something consistently your score will improve dramatically.

Have you read Silverturtle’s guide at the top of this forum? He offers some very good strategies. It looks like you focus really needs to be on CR. It will take a great deal of practice to get yours score to the same level as the M + W. Get the College Board Official Guide (the “Blue Book”) and work through the 30 CR sections, looking up every word that you don’t know. Spend time understanding why an answer is wrong as well as why it is right. Good luck!

My advice is to mix it up. Do a section of each math, reading and writing. That mirrors the real test. Besides some scientists believe that you learn better when you work on a variety of subjects in one session.
