I am really wondering why I am so dumb.

So I mentioned this on the HUGE MISTAKE! thread a while ago, but now I am really starting to worry about it.

On the Princeton online app, if you choose to write about a "quote of your own choice," there isn't a box to check, so you just put the quote at the top. I did this on my longer essay and it was fine, but on my shorter one, either the quote got cut-off (it was at the top, though) or I accidentally imported the wrong document that didn't have the quote on it.

So it's just a random essay, no box checked, not really about an influential person (well...it could be interpreted like that if you were mildly delirious), and just...naked and quoteless.

The essay makes sense and talks about one of my values in a kind of abstract way without the quote, but I am worried because I blatantly did not follow directions. Should I email or call the admissions office and ask them what I should do? I promised myself I would never call with dumb questions...but I really am unsure how to handle this. My GC is useless and would never call for me.

Should I just send in another copy of the essay with the quote added with a note? My dad suggested just sending in a piece of paper with a short explanation and JUST the quote on it, so that it wouldn't look like I was sending in a copy of an essay they already had. I already sent in the What Else? form, so I couldn't do that.

Any suggestions?

When I sent in my app, my computer ate a line of my essay. I only realized this after I had sent it in...so I called the admission office and asked if I could fax or email them the 'correct' version with the missing line included. They said that was fine so I emailed it to an admission officer and faxed it. You should call Princeton and explain the situation and ask if you can send in the correct version. Believe it or not, the admisison office understands that we are human and that everyone makes mistakes. They don't hold stupid stuff like this against you...I really think they want you to do well and are surprisingly approachable when you talk to them. Like, I think people have this big misconception that you should send in your app and NEVER communicate with the adcoms again. It's fine to call if you have a question, need help, or have a problem. They are understanding and will help you to the best of thier ability. They aren't these scary 'gods' that people on CC make them out to be.

I did my own quote, and I didn't put it on the top. It was pretty obvious, as I started off with the quote. Unless is isn't obvious what quote you are using, I doubt it matters.
