I am so confused about the idea of transferring. Can someone help me?

Ok.
So I am a Liberal Studies/Elementary Education major.
My first choice is LMU for a few reasons,
1. It's a great school
2. BEautiful
3.My father works at USC, making me eligible for something called Tuition Exchange (Waive of tuition). LMU is part of this program so it works for LMU.
4. It has a Liberal Studies program

I don't just want to apply to LMU. I want other schools to fall back on.
But that's my problem. So many other schools such as CSU's, Privates, etc.. They all have different major/GE transfer requirements! Naturally, I'm following LMU's requirements, (Which happen to overlap well with the CSU GE pattern) But what about major requirements? The major requirements are different everywhere... For example, let's say I don't get into LMU, but I completed these specific LMU requirements, and I get into a CSU instead.... Would it take me longer to complete school at the CSU's? Or other schools? Since I'm missing things? OR, if I get rejected at LMU, can I apply again? What do you advise I do?

I want other schools to fall back on, but with all the different requirements, it's frustrating.
Fellow transfer students, how do you guys go about it? What are you guys doing? What is your strategy?
I need some insight. I'm just perplexed on how this process works..
Thank you for everyone who answers :)

You’ve given too little info about what your current situation, e.g. what’s your current school, what semester are you in, how have you been doing so far (grades and extracurrics)? What are your geographic/size specifications? What is wrong with/why are you unhappy with your current school?

Last semester (Fall 2013) DD applied to four LAC’s for January transfer; was accepted to each as a 2nd semester Sophomore. We followed an excellent book that was co-authored by CC’s Dean Sally Rubenstone–a little out-of-date, but among the useful things she points out was that you should do preliminary research in order to determine a VERY SMALL NUMBER of schools for the actual transfer application, and do thorough research on each one, including visits and interviews; you should also have a clearly defined reason for transferring.

As part of your research, you should find out whether each specific school is used to having transfer students, and whether they may require an extra semester to satisfy all of their specific requirements. DEFINITELY look before you leap!
