Nevertheless, you don't need to lash out at her just because you have a different opinion. There are other ways of responding than an interrogation-esque post. I am indeed entering UC Davis in the fall as a freshman student, but I'd rather see how the administration works myself before believing either side of what I read here. (: If there is indeed a problem, I'll be concerned about it. Otherwise, I'll disregard whatever gossip there is out there.

There is a difference between "lash(ing) out" and probing the reliability and veracity of a person's written response. It would be nearly impossible to debate a point of critical importance without asking questions. Questions do not constitute "lashing out" at somebody.

As you infer in your post, in certain cases, first person knowledge may be more reliable than second hand knowledge. That is exactly why I am asking anxious_mom these questions so that she can provide greater insight for us into what appears to be her allegedly second hand knowledge, she is attempting to represent here as factual knowledge, of this very important matter.

I do not claim to speak on behalf of the administration, nor do I purport that there are no problems. I do have a long history with UCD, so I do find myself compelled to correct inaccuracies when someone presents them as fact.

My history, which I have never hidden, is that I've been a part of the UCD community for many years. I'm a UCD alum. I started at UCD back in 1970 (or in the days of the dinosaurs many would state). Since then, in one way or another I've had a connection to the University.

I've worked for UCD for many years, and currently am a department manager. I don't think that qualifies me as "The administration".

I found College Confidential when my youngest son was checking into Universities a couple of years ago. Although I found a lot of useful information and wonderful people on CC, I also found many misconceptions about UC Davis. So, I'd post once in a while to try to set things straight or help where I could.

My son had planned to "go away" for college, and was accepted at UC Berkeley, UCLA and UC San Diego. However, he was not impressed when he attended the admitted student events at UCB or UCLA ( and he never really wanted to go to UCSD). After attending the event at Davis, he decided to accept the Regent's Scholarship at UCD. That's why I know about ISHP, Miller hall, etc.

I generally stopped logging on after my son made his decision but I still receive emails from students or parents that have seen my old posts. That sparks my curiosity about what is being said about UCD, so I find myself logging on again.

Please understand that anything I say is not as a "representative of UCD" - it is based on my personal knowledge or observation and is based on years as a student, alum, employee and parent of a UCD student.

I spend my personal time answering questions, because I've been able to help some students and parents, and I do believe that correcting inaccuracies is extremely important. In a public forum, a lot of harm can be done by vicious baseless posts.

For your other questions, I'll let you do your own research. There are many indepth articles, news interviews and statements that you should be able to locate that could get you the answers you claim to want.

OK anxious_mom, I respect that. You sound like a great parent who has done an excellent job raising your son. Best of luck to your son, he sounds like a very smart person who will do very well in college.

a triple really isn't so bad. stop whining.
