I am...so...SCARED

I have deadlines January 1st and one of my teachers hasn't sent the reccomendation letter yet D: I asked him about a month ago and sent him the materials via Common App. Right now it's Winter Break and we don't get back till the 5th. I've emailed him a week ago and two days ago and have yet to get a response. I'm just scared my e-mails aren't getting through to him, or the Common App. materials didn't send. This is to Duke, Cornell, and Northwestern.

P.S. He's a very forgetful teacher...a VEERRY forgetful teacher.

-freaks out and runs around in a circle-

I can imagine his face when I get back January 5th, saying "Oh...oops."

Yeah I need to calm down.

Just relax. First of all, colleges know that teachers are forgetful, and thus they don’t expect your recommendations to be submitted when you turn in your applications. In fact, I think in mid February they submit notices to everyone that has applied who does not have a recommendation in, asking that they check with their teachers who did their recommendations. It is okay if your teachers submit their recommendations in January, just make sure to remind them as soon as you get back to school.

The same thing just happened to me. I thought I was completely screwed because when I had checked my common app school forms page, NONE of my teachers had submitted their recommendations. I sent emails to all of them and even tried to get their home phone numbers, but I hesitated calling them because it was around Christmas. However, they replied to my emails, and completed the recommendations. However, if your recommendations are a little late that’s okay. Colleges are forgiving like that and wouldn’t let 4 years of preparation go to waste because of a little mishap like a late recommendation.
