I'm in the same boat--though I did start applying early, and ended up not getting hired by anyone. So i'm scrambling to find something. Craiglist is good, as is Idealist.org if you want non profit jobs.

Are you a junior in high school or college? If it's high school, CHILLAX. You don't need an internship or job. Do volunteer work (consistently and at one place or in one field), babysit or do yard work and odd jobs for some spending money, or apply to a minimum wage job (though it may be a little late for a summer job if you don't want to work during the school year). Study for those standardized tests and enjoy your summer.
If you're in college, definitely do something. Call some non-profits or get a job. You could also volunteer in something related to your major (or even not).
I think the bottom line is that you should do something with your summer. As long as it's clear that you aren't lazing around for three months, I don't think not having an internship will hurt you. Just resolve to start looking earlier for next summer or try to get an internship during the fall or spring that will be a plus on your resume.

Check what job/internship database website your school uses! Go to your local career center.

Its little late to find internship this summer. Summer has started long time ago. The best time to apply is January-March. You need to start looking for a work if you want to earn money during the summer. You'll need money so go now, look around for a job at department stores, warehouses, restaurants.

You probably won't find a seasonal job either. Becasue most places have already accepted applicants for the summer and bc of recession and high gas prices fewer peole than in recent years leave for a vacation for the summer to create seasonal jobs. So your best bet is to look for a regular part-time job and keep in mind that all employers look who hire for permanent positions look only for candidates who will stay with them longer than 2 months.
