FedEx won't pick up my apps today for UPenn (deadline is Jan. 1st).

So my app won't get there until the 3rd, and it'll postmarked the 3rd, too.

Also, Columbia says the deadline is the first business day after Jan. 1st, (the 2nd), but no postal services around my city are open until the 3rd.

dude, don't worry about it; i've read places that you can subit stuff up to two weeks late and still get in...they're too busy ripping envelopes open to read postmark dates

My suggestions would be:
1) Attempt to type it up and submit it online before the deadline
2) Drive somewhere where you can get them sent
3) Deliver them in personally to the colleges (Depending on where you live)

The third one would be hard, but it'd show dedicated :P

This could definitely be a problem. Hate to say it, but why wait until the last minute to send these off? You really should have planned ahead.

I agree with the poster above you need to find some way to have them in by the deadline. I think having them in late could be a problem. The best suggestion would be to either do them online or drive to somewhere where you can submit them.

I'm nearly positive that Fed Ex still operates today... you should look at other post offices nearby or maybe deliver it yourself to the local branch office, which is what I just had to do, too. Also, even though Jan 2 is a postal holiday, Express Mail (through USPS) will deliver that day, from what the people at the post office told me.

Sorry to hijack thread, but what if my application/fee are in by deadline, but my Resume gets there later (postmarked later than deadline date)?

tawny... if you live within driving distance of an airport, call and ask if they have a 24 hour postal service. Make sure to ask if there will be someone there who can physically put on the postmark stamp. That's what I'm doing, because I have to be at the airport anyway to pick up my sister tomorrow. The lady at my local post office told me that they can postmark things at this particular airport on Sundays, but I'm still trying to call just to be sure.
