I am transferring!... now where to?

I have been planning on transferring from my state school for some time. I know I will apply to the UC's, USC, but I need some other ideas! Please help.

I want to go to a top 30 school. I think I have a good shot at USC but I want more options. UC's are a long shot, I am out-of-state.

Anyways, I am an english lit major. GPA is 3.8

No SAT I... never took it just cuz I didn't need to for my state school. I can take it this summer but I am unsure of how much it will help in the transfer process.

High school record is ok. 3.8 GPA but like one AP course and easiest schedule imaginable senior year... seriously.

Any advice to open my eyes to other schools and what I need to do would be great. thanks.

Take the SAT. Do well. Apply to UNC-CH.

If you are transferring as a Junior, I don't think the SAT will matter that much. But it definately helps if you have a good score. I live in IL and I applied to U. of chicago, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Emory.
If I were you, I would try out some top schools like Brown, Cornell, UPenn, Stanford.
