I am wondering if i can get accepted in the Univ. of Miami

hi, i applied to UM and i am wondering if I could get into.. I am an international student from venezuela and i want to study there, i dont know my gpa because in venezuela we dont use that system for grades, but my grades are like Bs & Cs, but i have some extracurricular activities that i put in the app, also i have 6 recommendation letters, 4 from venezuela and 2 from a course of english that i am doing right now in Boston. I will afford all the tuition, i wont look for any scholarship or financial aid, and a very great essay that i have done here and two teachers have corrected it. right now i have good grades in the course an i gave them a report of my grades here. I also have the toefl score that they ask me. In some sites i saw that is not too hard to enter to UM if you pay the tuition.. but i don't know if i can believe it... what do you say?
Im trying to enter to the college of engineering and i want to study industrial engineering. and i read that UM is not too much recognized of the engineering. i don't know if it is a pro for me.

i played soccer at my school and in my recommendation letters is reflected my great attendance on the extracurricular activities. also my well behavior and responsibility. I am just wondering if I have many opportunities to get accepted.

anybody can help me?

U of Miami is much harder to get into than in the past. They also put a lot of emphasis on GPA, test scores, and class rank. I would need you to try and figure out the GPA equivilent of your grades and to post your test score and class rank before I could comment on your chances.

i dont know how to figure it. i gave my grades in venezuelan format. but maybe is between 2.75-3.25 but i dont really know. so… also international students they dont require the sat. so i dont give them. but im not looking for a scholarship. also i emailed some people from the college of engineering because theres a lot of people who apply and get accepted at um but they dont want enroll… so i want to show them that i really want to study there.

also my school was very challenging so my class rank is medium high… maybe in the best 30%… but thats not showed in the report that i gave them because in venezuela the class rank is not that important. but if they research about my high shcool they could found that is pretty recognized nationwide in vzla

also i understand that engineering at um doesnt have too much demand than other faculties like business, arts, law or med. so what do you think. still very hard for me?

You wouldn’t be competing with law and med students as they have to have a Bachleors degree to get into Law and Med school. But I think you don’t have much of a shot here honestly. International spots at most schools in the US are fairly competitive especially at decent privates like UMiami.

I have to agree. That gpa and getting cs and bs only will not cut it at Miami. Not looking too good, sorry.
